Liberty and CPA Rematch

It says records can be deceiving 😜

You know nobody in 3A played the schedule CPA did this year. We've lost to 2 3A teams so far, but then beat them both when we got a second chance.

Stratford beat a 4A team that is projected to be in the state championship so they had some quality wins and was not undefeated because they played an easy schedule.

I admit on paper Liberty and Alcoa should beat CPA, but I would never overlook a program that has practiced every Thanksgiving since 2011 when the new coaching staff was put in place.

If Stratford was in our place this Friday, I think the majority opinion would be that they would be favored.

Now, I need my buddy TECHY to make some predictions because I think he was our good luck charm last year and we are definitely going to need it this year.

I agree with you bcd, I do think that CPA played the toughest schedule (took their lumps, got coached up and not beat down) and it prepared them well for the playoffs. It won't shock me to see CPA advance. I just think it makes the West look "weak".

Congrats to CPA and good luck

When it comes down to it, the bracket winner on one side for the Semi's from the West was a 4-6 Team. Not taking away from what CPA has done at all. Great Coach and they got better. I have seen them first hand for 3 years straight now.

What does it say when an undefeated team is beaten in the second round by a team with a loosing record?

I know,I know! A lot of youth on the team and great coaching.

Maybe the West isn't that weak but you East guys are just too strong!

I would love be to see you guys again and try to even the score at 2-2 but my magic eightball says "not likely" :(

No one is overlooking CPA, believe that

Do you think Stratford 2016 is better than CPA 2015...if your answer is yes, then I'd grant you they would be favored, but you and I both know they aren't...

Not trying to butt in but... I don't think anyone in quad 3 is within 3tds of CPA 2015. And if you say Liberty isn't as good as last year either, this could be a tight game. My feeling has been most of the season though, that Liberty, Milan, and Dyersburg would all 3 beat anyone in quad 3. I guess we'll see how the quads match up tomorrow night. Good luck to both teams.

by all means opinions are appreciated...Liberty is not as solid as last season, particularly on D...but we still have "it"

that's my point swarm, did they actually take CPA's place, or did they simply take advantage...in my mind there is a big difference...

we didn't lose as much as CPA, but I still expect a dogfight

Like I said, I don't think anyone in region 5 or 6 would have a prayer against last seasons CPA team. I do think (or at least I have been thinking) that Liberty is comparable. You would certainly know better than me though. I'd like to see it. If it were in Brentwood again, I would. I bet you guys are glad it's not at the hog pen this year.

Liberty 2016 doesn't beat CPA 2015. I have no problem stating that

That field was atrocious, similar to north side after a spring rain...have no idea how they play on that skating rink

I like what we're bringing this year for the lions

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
