DB beat Smyrna yes...After their 3 star rb plus back was out, plus their 3 star QB was out and 3 other starters! Good job, Siegal, played a lot of sophomore s last year and the worse team in the boro.

Once again other than Oakland and Maryville regions 1 and 2 were practically even. Riverdale lost to Hardin Valley in the play offs a team DB beat 31 to 7 on the same field that Riverdale lost on. It's not hard to look at the schedule and see this year top to bottom region 1 was stronger and winning more games in round 1. We can't choose what district the TSSAA puts us in but we can schedule tough non conference scheduling like we did. So once again outside of us not scheduling Oakland the other boro teams are on the same level as DB and Science Hill so go troll somewhere else....

Anybody heard how the weight training is going this off season.

It won't be long before teams are coming to see what the Devil's are

made of.

Coach Ballard and company has been at it since the Knox Central loss this past year. Prowler pulls, weight lifting, ladder drills, etc. The quote of the off season is "No one is wearing mediums this fall" There is no off season for the Devil's and that has shown since 2007. Also 4 upcoming Juniors have received their first D1 offers from Austin Peay (Ballard QB , Shipley DE/FB, Goddard wr, and Hite Wr/S). Goddard also has an offer from UTSA. Edited by Swipes

I haven't seen Greenevilles schedule for next season yet but IMO if they can navigate a tough regular season schedule, The Devils are in good shape to make a 4a title run. Just watch out if you make it down there Greeneville, some of those Memphis teams are very good and HUGE. We found out first hand.

They should have a cake walk .. the 3 teams that have put them out the last 4 or 5 years are all moving up to 5A .. so they have no excuse now .. they got it made ..... Central , Fulton ( 2 times) and Knox Catholic made it tough on them the last few years

The Devils have a very Good program. It didn't happen by accident. To think the middle and western part of the state will hand the gold ball to whomever comes out of the east in 4A wouldn't be very smart.Someone correct me ,but who won it last year.Isn't the team that gave Alcoa all it wanted last year a factor in an arrogant thought like cake walk.It takes a great team and sometimes a little luck to stay healthy and play all the way to a championship.Sure with every great program that left 4A,it cleared some of the path, but as last year shows. There are plenty of programs that can more then replace those championship obstacles

We lose 17. Woodby(dt/ng) and Turner(ss/rb) are probably the 2 biggest names we lose. EHS should still have a good sized team with a young QB to lead the way.

I would include Conner Johnson on that list of biggest players yall lose. Witten said he was one of the hardest workers that had ever came through EHS. Hard to replace a 6'3" receiver that avg. 20 yards a catch. Should be a great couple of games next year between GHS and EHS (Like old times)

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
