Should be interesting to see the picks.  When will they be announced?

 

Very good post...lot's of "homers" who pick from their heart for their team, district, portion of the state, ect..., but Lamb is the clear winner. Sometimes it's the "body of work" that win's the award, the area, the amount of "advertising", past success, or just clearly having the best season. Lamb has all the above working for her. Meadows and Perry will probably round out the top three, and deserve the recognition, but this season isn't one of those where any of the best three or four young ladies are too close to call.

I hope you're not being serious? 😂 To say they're far and away better Is ridiculous to say. No matter how much you love a team or a player, you have to show respect to other athletes... stats don't mean everything

Stats don't mean everything. They matter but do not tell the whole story. You have to consider how good the other players on their team are. Taylor Lamb for instance may not average many points per game but her shot percentage is high. She is on a team full of shooters. And since they blow most teams away, the starters are sitting for a lot of the game. So no. Stats are not everything.

It is also hard for me to not think that Braelyn Wykle is not also deserving of Miss Basketball. As a sophomore she has already surpassed the 1000 point mark. She's a phenomenal point guard. But I'm guessing two from one team would be impossible.

Kara Meadows is as deserving as anyone IMO. She is having a great senior season after blowing her knee last year. She can score from anywhere in the half court, great short, mid and long range touch, has great vision to see open players to assist her team to win with a great basketball IQ. And can stop up the middle on D. She fills up a stat sheet with points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals/deflections. All around great basketball player and and a very intelligent student.

Moore county's Kursten Hawkins should be considered leading her team in scoring for the past two years and also reaching the 2000 point plateau. she's capable of playing every position on the floor and at times this season has done just that.

Not trying to start a back and forth with you but stats don't win the award. Scotts Hill had an amazing young lady graduate a while back with virtually 3,000 points (2,998-2,999), with monster rebound and assist stats...voted final three in both her junior and senior seasons, "losing" to different winners, and went on to lead Union University to a national championship or two. If she were chosen no one could have argued against, but she was not...she also led the state in stats. One of the other ladies that was named Miss Basketball also played at Union...never had the success that her runner up achieved. The difference was where they played...the winner's school had already produced two or three Miss Basketball winners, and had an amazing run of state championship teams prior to her career there. The year before (junior season), the winner of the award's team and Scotts Hill played a home and home...both were close games but she outplayed the winner badly in one game and comfortably in the other. Lot's of factors are involved in naming Miss Basketball...stats are important, but not the determining factor.
