Sequatchie Valley jamboree

Recommended Posts

Boy SP has a lot to work on and the QB situation is top priority and imo Sanders should be the obvious starter. He is the future and looks to be the better all around qb. Although I think he needs a few games to adjust to the high school level of game speed ect...  overall the pirates are a young team this year and will experience there fair share of growing pains

Whitwell probably impressed me the most. They have several good looking backs and good size up front.  They didn't look like typical whitwell they will surprise a few teams this year.

Marion County looked good  saylors will be hard to handle this year. Still think they are down some  defensively and line play is not what it was the last few years.  MC should still make another deep playoff run

My Thoughts......

SP and Jasper- Good coaching staffs that had the teams ready to play. Jasper size may hurt them down the road but they are well coached and Saylors can just run by you. He gives you a chance. SP is young in some key spts this year but Vic will have them rolling by mid year. They will be just fine. Going to be hard to stop when they run the dive at you with big #9.

Seq- I thought still looked competitive after losing one of the best SR classes in school history. Caine is a good coach and will have them ready. I thought before the season they would only win about 3-4 games but I think they may have another winning season .

Whitwell- I thought my Tigers looked much improved over last year. Bigger and stronger in some key spots. Great Group of skill kids. OL needs some work but they will get better. I thought Defense was stout outside of a 70 yd run by Saylors. I think the Tigers have a chance to have a good season. Oct 13th is going to be a good one!

Grundy- I thought with all the players they had coming back they would have been a little better. Maybe its not fair to really judge them right now due to the fact they had SP and Jasper. They maybe would have played a little better against a Silverdale or Bledsoe.

Bledsoe, LV and Silverdale- I thought LV was much improved. New coach looks to have done them some good. In that region all they need to do is beat Sale creek and CB and they get to the playoffs. Bledsoe and Silverdale really couldnt tell much. I think they are average teams and will struggle some this season. Unfortunately looks to be a long year for all 3.

My thoughts on the jamboree.

Most Improved- Whitwell. They have a nice looking collection of athletes and some big Linemen as well. They obviously are much improved. I believe they have a great chance to make a deep playoff run.

Marion County isn't quite what they have been from 2013-2016, but they have a solid team. Saylors is one of the best RBs around and definitely the best in the valley. They will still go to at least the quarterfinals this season and as I said months ago it will come down to Trousdale if they can advance back to Cookeville.

South Pittsburg is young in key spots and has a lot of work to do to be where they want to be. As of know I believe they are a Quarterinal or possible semifinal team, but that's the end of the road and less we improve.

Lookout Valley is still down, but they are improving. I believe they can win a couple of games this season. They will beat Sale Creek and be in the playoffs as a 3 or 4 seed in that district.

Sequatchie County still looks competitive after the big year in 2016. They will win at least 5 games in the regular season and be in the playoffs. They will give SP and Marion all they want this season.

Grundy, Silverdale, and Bledsoe are still very bad and won't be going to any playoffs this season.

    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
