I just purchased my magazine and skimmed through it.  84 schools did not complete their surveys.  That's an absolute shame.  A 10-20 minute process at most and that many schools did not fill out the survey.  I know it to be a fact that the TSSAA penalizes schools with a fine if their head coaches do not attend a rules meeting prior to a particular sports season.  Perhaps the TSSAA should require coaches to return their surveys for Murphy Fair's magazine.

If a school changes coaches or is about to enter their inaugural season then I can see those as valid excuses.  Other than that I don't think it's asking too much for a school to submit a survey that takes all of 15 minutes to complete.  That's just my opinion.

It's my understanding that Murphy faxes his surveys to the schools in most cases. So, I would hope most of the time its just a case of the surveys not making it to a coach's desk when they dont turn them in. Maybe, the secretaries get them from the fax machines and they get lost in other paperwork? Who knows. Although, there are a few coaches like Hambone at Heritage who NEVER turn in a survey.  I think those guys are just jerks.

No I agree. But to think it should be a TSSAA requirement to take Murphy's survey is a little much.

I think that Murphy Fair is and deserves the title of "The Guru" as it relates to high school football in the state of Tennessee.  He envisioned a product when it didn't exist and made something special out of it.  It has to be if it's 30 years old and people are still eager to want it.  The only thing that Murphy doesn't do as good of a job at nowadays is to keep his website up to date from the start of football season, every week throughout the season, and all throughout the offseason.  This is where people refer to CoachT.com and the message boards much more so than his website.  

Donovan Stewart does a better job today of staying on top of the latest news and coaching headlines all year long.  It doesn't matter if it's George Quarles leaving Maryville in December or Orenthus Taylor leaving Trezevant in June.  He stays up to date with everything.

I garuntee you this is a bunch of mess. Me and Murphy have hand delivered a few of these durn surveys and they didnt get sent back to Murphy.  It makes Murphy real mad when these coaches are just lazy.  You think im joking but im not.

He also sends them as an email to every school's head coach's school email address which are always listed online.  Every coach should check his (or in other sports her) e-mail daily.  

 

I think its an injustice to your kids to not turn in a survey on their behalf.

I garuntee you some of these boys might could play in the SEC if their durn coach would turn in their survey to Murphy. These college coaches read Murphys book and see who is on his pole. You think im joking but im not.

      And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…

      Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.

      Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.

      After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.

      Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
