Last week in regular season...

1: Upperman 12-0

2: Macon Co 11-1 (game at Upperman with chance to tie for regular season title)

3: York Institute 8-4 Clinched 3rd

4: Cannon Co  & DeKalb Co 5-7 (Cannon has easier schedule remaining)

6: Livingston Academy 4-8 (needs to beat Cannon and/or York to have a shot at 4th or 5th)

7: Watertown 2-10

8: Smith Co 1-11 (needs to beat Watertown to tie for 7th)

Can anybody upset Macon or Upperman in District Tourney? Who has the best shot to do so?

Big game tonight, as Macon travels to Upperman looking for a share of the district crown.  Macon has the firepower to play with Upperman and I do think they can beat them, but not on Upperman's home floor.  I look for a score of 68-58 in Upperman's favor.  I am eager to see if Macon can make some adjustments come district tournament time and give Upperman a run on a neutral court.

Would like to see a Macon win, but agree would be doubtful at Upperman.  Macon has to not get down big early and rebound, two things they did not do in Lafayette.  Macon has a chance, but will have to shoot well and rebound.  Levy will be the best thing on the floor, but after her, I think Macon has the deeper team.

Very good game through 2 1/2 quarters. Many missed opportunities by both teams. On one possession Levy missed a floater in the paint rebounded missed rebounded missed rebounded and made it. So 3 offensive rebounds in the paint. Late 3rd and 4th quarter Macon was out played all over the court. At 2:54 left in the game both teams made wholesale changes 5 for 5 players. Hurst shot it very well and say some due to foul trouble. We will see how or if this effect Macon in the tournament.

Seedings for District Tournament almost locked in now. Only variable could be 4 and 5.  Only way Dekalb can get to 4th is if they beat Macon and Cannon loses to LA.  Otherwise Cannon should be the 4 seed.

Tournament looks like the following:

#5 Dekalb Co vs #8 Watertown- winner to play #4 Cannon Co- winner to play #1 Upperman in Semi-Final

#6 Livingston Academy vs #7 Smith Co- winner to play #3 York Institute- winner to play #2 Macon Co in a Semi-Final

Looks like two tosses of the coin. For 4/5: Cannon and Dekalb have identical district records and split in head-to-head.  6/7: Smith Co. and Watertown have identical district records and split in head-to-head.

No coin toss, Cannon is 4, DeKalb is 5.  Smith is 7, Watertown is 8.

After head to head the next tiebreak is who beat the higher seed in regular season.  Cannon beat York once, DeKalb did not.  Smith beat Cannon once, Watertown didn't.

    • Sounds like y'all got a lot of bodies to choose from. We lost 2 really good seniors and have 4 from Junior High that has moved up. That will give us 12 starting summer camps. As you know we all have to stay healthy. Proud Alexander and Micah are going to play together at Bethel. They were really fun to watch at the All Star game in Murfreesboro. They have real good chemistry together on the floor.
    • Baxter will do what they most always do.....at a minimum produce at least 9 Ws and run into at least the 2nd round.....Booger actually enjoyed seein them in the Gold Ball contest last season.... Booger just sayin
    • Catholic North will provide them both a decent contest Booger just sayin
    • Well personally I see us going 9-1 so that isn't doom and gloom to me , Most people are thinking 6-4. Bearden will be the possible loss but hoping not. I was very impressed with what I saw this spring.
    • the kid you are speaking about, played in JV games,  2H half Science Hill game, split time in Hardin Valley and Bearden and that was it.   The upcoming Senior RB was All Region as a Junior and is regarded by the media as one of the top running backs in East TN for 2024 season. Scouting services have him as a top 10 back in the state.  Something aint adding up with gloom and doom. Maybe he was hurt and not at spring practice when you watched?
