I've never heard of a football team taking fall break off. I've never been around or even heard of that. I assume any team that does take fall break off is a bad team.

I've heard of coaches doing 4 practices and giving Monday or Friday off.

If Maryville has a bye on fall break, we didn’t this year, our coaches will normally practice Mon-Thursday and let the kids have the long weekend. Sometimes on the break we will even practice early in the day to let the boys have the evening off.

Never heard of a decent team or school that values athletics taking a full week off during the season in any sport, ever!  That is absurd, and sends a very clear message that team and coach has mailed it in.  May as well just take up equipment and move on to basketball.   Maybe the last 2 games are optional this year.

I hope any team and coach that takes a week off gets what they deserve...

The team loses and the coach gets replaced.

Who does this?

Shad at William Blount apparently did this, took the week off, lol.  Please somebody tell me this did not happen.   I guess there's a first time for everything.   But then again, last years playoff game was optional and they weren't allowed to have a banquet.  Maybe it is true?

It happened. I know kids that play there.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
