Catholic vs Beech

Watched Beech on film tonight. OL looks big and physical. Looks like they come off the ball good. Not sure their as big or as athletic as Catholics DL and LB. But this group on both sides of the ball will be key to this game. Whoever wins this battle has a great chance to win State. I really like the RB at Beech. Not real big, but the kid runs low, hard and behind his pads great. If they can get this RB going, it may give  Catholic a problem. They don't throw it much on film, but when they did it wasn't very impressive. Beech on D seem to be small up front. But They come off the ball good and play with a high motor on every play. LB core seem to get to the ball fast. DB's will probably have their hands full all night with Catholics WR.  The teams I've watched Beech play on film don't seem to be no where near as big, physical, and athletic as Catholic. So IMO Beech probably hasn't seen or played against a team comparable to what they'll see Thursday. Catholics OL should win the battle up front against Beech DL. Catholics RB's should have a great night. If that doesn't work. Catholics WR core and athletic QB will be too much for Beech IMO. Catholic should be able to score as much as they want. The key too the game will be can Catholics D stop the running attack of Beech. Good luck to both teams. But it's Go Irish Thursday. #greenNgold #RingChasing

I haven't seen Beech, but the school won the gold ball a few years ago so I guess the program is on solid ground. This is somewhat of an educated guess, but when it comes to public vs. Private I'll guess private everytime. It's just the odds. Eaglesfan00 I would agree that Beech has not seen a team with the size, as physical and athelic as the one they will see Thursday. My guess....... Catholic.

Your scouting report may be spot on. Question: is KC the best private school team in East TN?

I will say this about Beech.  If you aren't up by 17 to start the 4th, Beech can/will come back on you.  Expect them to always go for it on 4th down.  Even if they are in punt formation.  They may not be as big or talented as KC but I promise you, you will get everything they have and then some.  They WON'T QUIT until the game is over.  I'll be watching on TV Thursday night.  Good luck to both teams.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
