I'm not trying to be a jerk but(again I know it's not Illinois) every year 6 or 7 games this happens mostly in Memphis. In Illinois they help the teams to make sure it gets played. If a team travels a long way & the game is postponed the host school puts them up & feeds them too!! I remember a few years ago McMinn County was supposed to play someone I forgot who.Their coach told me that they got stormed out Friday Night..So they said we'll come back tomorrow at 11am & play. The other team said no, our paramedics are working the game at UT.McMinn said they play at 7 tonight,The other team said no we don't want them to be tired.McMinn suggested How about Sunday afternoon? I'll ask TSSAA.Other team,No.My players go to church.McMinn,But I'm talking 1 pm.Other Team,No.McMinn,How about Monday then? No,We have a JV game.McMinn demanded they get a forfeit win.

Chester County is 30 minutes from USJ, so distance is not a factor. Before the officials made the final decision, CC had declared they were not coming back the next day and would not reschedule. Not sure exactly why. I suppose they didn't want to waste any more time and energy on a non-region game. On a related note, the weather was perfect tonight. Such a waste.

Jackson Christian played at TCA the same night.  TCA is only about 2 miles or so from USJ.  The TCA  and JC game resumed just after 9pm and was finished.  No reason the USJ and Chester County game could not have been finished.

I am well aware because I took several of our boys over there to watch after our decision to cancel was final. It seems it could or should have been played, but officials make the call and these 2 officiating crews obviously saw things differently. That being said, there was no reason they couldn't have come back on Friday night when the game was initially scheduled. Oh well, on to the Crockett game.

From my understanding the coaches from Tca and Jc wanted to play the game. So the officials followed along. If USJ and Chester coaches wanted to play then it would have been played.

As usual, you're right BigEd. USJ offered to delay and finish Thursday night, play Friday night, Saturday afternoon, or Saturday night...CC said "no", not a division game that "mattered", so no finish. My question is, if that's your mindset, why schedule the game at all? Late season when kids have fully settled in to their offensive and defensive schemes, have several games under your belt, and maybe a little banged up, you can at least make an argument...right now it hurts not to play.

I know  My son is a senior and he would have been ticked off to play one less game his last year. We played that night and our campus is two miles away and we finished our game.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
