Covington @ McNairy County week 3

I was not able to go to the game tonight but had to track the score on ScoreStream. Appeared to be close for about a quarter and a half. Can anyone that was there explain how Covington pulled away? Turnovers, big plays on offense, etc....

Can't give you a play-by-play, but Covington scored to make it 14-7, kicked off to McNairy and their return man fumbled. Covington recovered, scored quickly. Now 21-7.

McNairy still moved the ball and drove the length of the field, with first and goal inside the ten. Covington held 3 plays, and McNairy missed a field goal. 21-7 at the half.

Charger D stoped another first and goal by the Bobcats in the second half, while continuing to move the ball on the ground and in the air.

MCHS is improved this year but not ready to go toe to toe vs a team like Covington.

Improved? Where? Only improvement is maybe at QB position. Defense is still awful. O-Line is still awful. 

RB is good. He will earn his yards rushing. But improved I don't see it. 

But wait they will look improved with the very weak District they are in. But maybe they will get better as the year goes on.

District weak??  Covington and Milan are very good teams this year. S. Gibson is better than expected and is a pretty solid team. Bolivar has no defense but can score points. 2 really good teams and 1 solid team is just about as good as any other 3A region in the state.

I agree. Covington and Milan are both in the AP top 10 for 3A. That points to a strong region. Does any other region have two schools in the AP poll?

Covington and Milan. That's it. The rest of the teams are a coin flip and guess where they will finish.

Region 2 might. Alcoa #1  and I think AE is maybe 7th or 8th but I wouldn't swear to it.

Don't get too down on your team. Covington has scored on everyone (55-14, 41-7, and now 42-7).

For what it's worth, I have no qualms saying Covington has a truly great team this season...they look just as good as they did last year and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them go just as far or further than they did in 2017.

       If you know anything about Andy Greening's coaching ability you could see McNairy's offensive line is better. The line dominated the Eagles in the second half.
