CROCKETT @ KNOX CENTRAL QUARTER FINALS

There's a lot of schools that would love to still be in the mix and the opportunity to have a chance to move on the next round.  Both teams have had a great year.  I looked for it to be a battle the entire game.  For me it's a toss up and the team with fewer mistakes will probably come out with the W.. Nothing against Knox Central, but I would like see Crockett come back with that W. Best of luck to both teams, and a injury free game.

Well it’s almost game day. Crockett fans have a safe trip down and pack this place out. Crockett going to send buses for students if they want to go down. Well I’m ready to make my prediction. Crockett 28 Knoxville Central 21. Should be a great game.

Not a bad prediction honestly. I see a great game ahead also, as I’ve said for a week now, Crockett fans we are NOT taking your team or their accomplishments lightly. I’ve watched more on Crockett than I have anyone else we played this season, I am impressed with many of their players. I can’t really comment on the coaching staff because they do have a very talented team but I’m sure they are also good. I believe in Coach Rosser and this team, I know we’ve prepared correctly. Now we must go play

I can't say this for every classification, but in 5A---with the 4 games we have this week---I don't see any blowouts. It would not surprise me at all if all 4 games are decided by less than 10 points. If Crockett can travel to Central and pull off a win (amount doesn't matter)---that would be a statement win (NOTE: It will also be a statement win should Central win it). It will be either team's biggest win of 2018 to date. And who know's---come December---it could've been the game that started the winner on their road to the 2018 state championship! As far as anyone trashing either of these two teams---I think that would be a huge mistake. These two teams should've earned everyone's respect. If you are in the quarterfinals and have won at least 10 games thus far to date---anyone who overlooks you does so in error. Anyone who trashes you is not doing so from a point of reason---but rather emotion. I like the prediction Stockton4182 made. 28-21. That score would be one either team could take pride in. Losing to a team who makes it to at least the semifinals by a single TD is nothing to be ashamed of. Personally---I think it will be even closer. Whoever wins will win by less than 4 points. I would not be shocked to see this one won on a blocked kick, successful 2 point conversion, field goal, or late go ahead touchdown after trailing. Flipped a coin and it came up Central. So I will pick Central 32-29

Just can't get the Halls/Crockett game out of my head, coupled with our wins against Cocke Co. and Daniel Boone. There's a big difference in speed here that will show up in the lines of scrimmage play. Both teams have very good skilled position players, having time to get it into their hands will be a factor. Field conditions should be near perfect, temps-not so much! Stockton, here's wishing you and the fans up I-81 a safe trip.

Central  35

Crockett   10

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
