Great game for the Tornadoes. I’m sure you’ll be bringing home number 17 next weekend. Glad we kept the game at the Hive because our seniors deserved to play one last game on their home field with their home crowd. We play a lot of teams every year and I want to thank you for being great and respectful fans. Have a safe trip back to East Tennessee and we will be there cheering for you at Tech next week. My son’s a junior, so hoping we get far enough to meet you in Alcoa next year.  Nobody was giving our kids a shot before the game - a lot didn’t even think we’d score. We are going home with a loss tonight, but I wouldn’t be any prouder of that group of kids if they’d won by three touchdowns. When a group of country boys from Baxter step on the field with Alcoa and give it all every play all night long, they have earned my respect.  I had two kids on the 2013 team - great group who’ve done well in life since leaving Upperman. I am sure these seniors will do the same.

Nothing at all to be ashamed of,great game, those boys played their heart out.

Hey Crow! Sorry I missed ya. Great game. Very impressed with Upperman! Momma Bee great game....

Yes, great atmosphere & great football! I can’t help but feel a little cheated on that onside kick call but it happened.  Good luck to guys next week. We will be rooting for you in the stands at Tech. Hope to get another chance next year.

I was able to attend Coach Caine's first team meeting after he was hired and he said two things that stuck out.  He said they were going to get prepared to beat Cookeville and to compete with Alcoa.  I figured it was mostly coach speak because what else is he going to say other than they want to beat their biggest rival and compete with the top of the classification.  Turns out, he believed it.  More importantly, he got buy in and got the players and staff to believe it.  Congratulations on a great season Upperman.  Just a shame it was taken out of your hands.  Unfortunately, that's football and that's life. Sometimes, you can do everything you should, and it will still go against you.  Tough lesson, but one you can learn from none the less.

I believe we just saw the State Championship game a week early between these two teams.

I will say this. If Covington gives us more of a fight than Upperman did tonight, I’ll be shocked. Y’all definitely deserved your ranking. Maybe should be #2. After giving it some thought , I think y’all beat AE in an IFL game. :thumb:
