How is Heritage Outlaw, Bradley Pride, or Pigeon Forge not on this list? I know this is a combination of all age groups, but I'd be more interested in seeing which team is at the top for tots, bantams, midgets, juniors, and middle school.

It makes it much easier to predict future high school success if you have an idea of who the top middle school teams are now.  I have seen Bradley, Cleveland, CBHS, Nashville Catholic and McCallie and they all look pretty good.  It's great to get super stars but if a high school team can get five freshmen each year that are solid (not super stars) you then have an opportunity to develop the wrestlers.

It'd be easier to rank middle school teams in each area of the state as opposed to the state as a whole. Middle school seasons are weird. In Williamson Co, for example, the season is only 6 weeks (it was just voted on and approved to extend to 8 starting next year) from the first practice to the county championships. It runs from about the end of October to the beginning of December. They don't get a whole lot of competition outside of the county because most schedules run at different times. It's annoying.

You just have to be creative in your scheduling. In my 6 years in Williamson county. I have gotten dual matches with Cleveland, Mt. Juliet, West Wilson, Nashville Catholic, Siegel, Stewarts Creek, Spring Hill, McCallie, Dickson, Blackman, Richview, MBA, FRA, BGA, Harding Academy, and BA. Sometimes things line up right for a particular year and other years they don't. We get 20+ duals in our season and then send our kids into club. We have a handful of kids that just go to club practice and prefer not to compete during the club season. The Wilco season is short 7 weeks this past year from start to finish, however I would rather have it in the late fall then the way Hamilton County does it.... I also prefer our divided season as opposed to what metro does.

We wrestled Bradley's MS team (Lake Forest) and they were a great team. They've been in some nail biters with Cleveland this year with each dual being decided by one match. Wilson Central (Wildcats) & Boyd Buchanan (Buccaneer) are pretty good too.

Other MS teams outside of my own that I've been impressed with in Region 1 teams are Science Hill (Liberty Bell/Hilltopper), Pigeon Forge, and Heritage. Hammer is definitely one of the better teams on the MS level, but I'm not sure they'd beat any of the other top Region 1 teams in a dual. They always score well if you combine all of their age groups, but those kids get split up amongst multiple East TN HS teams (some VA teams too) so no one HS program benefits from an influx of talent quite like the other programs mentioned.

BTW - Normally by this time I would have already posted the individual TNAAU MS rankings, but with other obligations I've been slacking on getting them over to Hamm. I have them about 80% complete, but with Regions coming up I've decided to hold off until I know which kids will stick to certain weight classes. There are a few who could conceivably be #1 in multiple classes, but until Regions are decided I hesitate on posting anything at all.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
