The gate would be good because of Upperman fans mostly. I’ve been around a long time and the only time I’ve ever seen any amount of fans in the stands at a CHS basketball game is when they play White County. Now I’m sure this game would bring more fans in than normal for a CHS home game, however when the venue changes to Upperman high school there would be little support. I do think it would be good though from a basketball perspective and I would absolutely attend. Upperman would win both games this year imo both the girls and the boys.

I believe the attendance would be great on both games.  And I believe that because it would pull alot of people that don't traditionally attend either schools games to watch that match up.   We both know that the attendance at CHS has been bad over the years.    There is no question about that.  But it has definitely been picking up the past couple years.    Bottom line is the game needs to be played!

I am a basketball fan first and a CHS fan second.  I love the game and when it is played the right way its a beautiful sport.   I watch alot of games and alot of different teams play.   I have watched several UHS games over the years and they are a good team but not the same type of team as they were with Levy.  I don't want to get into a debate on who would win the game because people came out of the woodwork last year when we started that debate.  I will just say this.   In the past several years UHS would have dominated that game on the girls side.   And I think CHS would have dominated the boys game.   Things are alot different now on both sides.     I guess its good that CHS plays a couple 8AA teams this year so we will get to at least have some common opponents to compare.    I hope you come check out a few games at CHS this year.  We have two of the top AAA girls teams in the state coming in the first week of the season.  Season is just around the corner...

I’m sure I’ll be there to watch my alma mater (White County) play CHS. :)  I’ll say this much both Upperman and Cookeville are getting the kids involved at a young age. I’ve started over and have a 3rd grader (girl) going to Upperman and playing. They’ve been playing since September and the kids are starting at age 6 now!

Now it all makes sense.    Should be some good games this year.  And yes they start really early.  It’s a year long sport now.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
