Anyone see Forrest vs. Macon Co. last night?

Forrest made the 2 hour bus trip and went toe to toe with a 4A playoff team that returned 13 starters. Both defenses were dominant. Neither team was able to maintain drives and there is lots of offensive work to do before 8/23. Typical high school scrimmage between two evenly matched teams. Some bright spots but lots to work on.

I stand corrected on the jamboree. Forrest will indeed take on 6A Rockvale in a few weeks.

Lemme analyze this a little more. My between the lines in parentheses

"Forrest made the 2 hour bus trip (Forrest should have been the more tired team, but were evenly matched)  and went toe to toe with a 4A playoff team that returned 13 starters (higher class, more starters returning, and went to  the playoffs, Forrest should’ve been overmatched). Both defenses were dominant (Forrest is gonna have a good defense this year against the given competition). Neither team was able to maintain drives and there is lots of offensive work to do before 8/23 (But if Forrest either a) wasn’t showing much b) were just experimenting or c)_ can get it together, this could be a great year). Typical high school scrimmage between two evenly matched teams (alluded to above). Some bright spots but lots to work on. "

Extras:

  • Macon got shellacked by Westmoreland last year.
  • Macon beat Portland, a 2019 Forrest opponent, last year, 21-12
  • Macon lost in the forst round at home to Nolensville, a non competitive 42-7.

I never said they were a good 4A playoff team. :-D  Should be comparable to Portland and Lawrence Co though.

Macon Co finished 2nd in their region but got swept by Marshall Co's region in the first round. So their best region team would be no better than 5th place in Region 4-4A.

Macon rb/db and their TE/DE are very good but over all still in rebuilding mode under second year coach Shoulders.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
