Raw talent wise? Yes I believe that. Is Haywood as disciplined or mean or as understanding of the schemes yet as those teams? Of course not. Not yet anyway. But when it all comes together watch out.

I don’t doubt for a second that Haywood has some frontline athletes that are better than the ones at Germantown, especially in a single given year, but I would be very surprised if that’s the case across the board and down the depth chart, which in many cases is where these games are won.

Haywood 24, The Red Worm 20.  The last two years I witnessed a more talented HC team lose to Germantown- even at home where they NEVER lose. This Haywood team is more talented than Germantown those two years. Looks like someone might have you guys number.

Funny how perspectives work. In 2017, I witnessed a young Henry County team travel to Germantown and take a superior Red Devils team to overtime. Kudos to them for hanging on for the W though. They’ve definitely earned it the past two years :thumb:

This YANKER is about to speak and all of Henryland will listen.......as will all of the wise Haywoodians!!!!!!!  This is a HUGE matchup to start off the season and this legendary YANKER has gone back and forth about the outcome of this great rivalry. I have made a decision........a have given a slight edge to the coaching staff that has been together the longest....if this game were to be played week ten, this great YANKER might go in a different direction...BUT...for this day, the score is as follows.......Henry County 23 - Haywood County 20!

This is the year of the YANKER!!!  I AM THE WORLD'S ONLY LIVING YANKER!!!!  I AM THE YANKER OF ALL YANKERS (there is only one)!!!! I AM YOUR LEGENDARY YANKER!!!!!!!  I AM THE UNPARALLELED YANKER!!!!!!!  I AM THE GREATEST YANKER OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

Lol Yanker. Respect your pick, but you do know four of these guys at Haywood have been together a while.

Yes, my midwesternering friend....this INCOMPARABLE YANKER assumed a few of their staff had been together for a while....BUT with a new head coach, there is a little more "newness" with the Haywood staff, hence the pick from this AMAZING YANKER!!!!!!!

I like to hear you testify, Yanker!! I expected to hear from you yesterday: feared for the worse but am now substantially relieved .I am not relieved,Yanker, by the closeness of your prediction which is somewhat out of  character for you. Like the rest of us, are you losing a little bit with age?

My "olddevilerring" friend doesn't quite comprehend how this "ONE OF A KIND" YANKER is made up.........I am opposite most people....this YANKER gets a little younger and more vibrant with every passing year!!!!!!!  I AM THE MOST UNUSUAL YANKER IN THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!  AND I AM ALSO THE ONLY LIVING YANKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just saying though u did say 27-14 game. A 2 TD win over Haywood would take a lot to go wrong for Haywood for that to happen. This will be a nail biter down to the last few seconds again with margin of victory being under a TD.

I don't consider 13 points a cakewalk. Close til the 4th quarter. Patriots score a late TD to put it away.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
