Unfortunate. It never needed to be a rivalry in the first place. Other than the couple Josh Malone years, the last coaching staff should had never allowed it to be a rivalry. Last years loss is completely inexcusable. I hope they are ready to play

Bad thing is after watching multiple replays of the overtime, Gallatin scored twice but never got the call.  It was very hard to watch a game where you are clearly the better team but cannot put it all together.  That loss really hurt the playoff scenario in the end.

That loss may have helped with what ultimately happened in the end though...

Gallatin not as good as touted to be. Offensive Line and Defensive Line play can be lacking. I’m not completely convinced yet that this years gallatin is anything different than last years. Talent and coaching are obviously in gallatins favor but it was last year as well. This game normally boils down to who wants it more and sheer luck. Station is not as bad as it may seem - they dropped a wide open touchdown, missed a field goal and had a unfortunate call on the goal line before half. Station players will try to mimic the underdog role of last years team and make this a closer game than most expect.

Very bold statement, I think they have proved they’re at least an 7-8 win season by just one drive alone. Driving the ball down Oakland’s throat in the jamboree and scoring. Something not many teams will succeed at. Also returning a boat load of starters helps their case.

Trust me, those days are gone. It's not gonna be a state title in year 1, but not long thereafter they will contending for them like Beech, Henry Co, etc

What about in 6A? Like Maryville, Oakland, Whitehaven etc.

Because isn't it quite possible that Gallatin will be in 6A after the next realignment?

Then Station Camp must have been sandbagging all summer in the scrimmages and jamboree.

It would be Year 3 under Watson by the time that came to pass. Not sure they'd be quite there, but I think they would be pretty close. Oakland is probably looking at Rebuild/Reload in 2020, huge chunk of their team are seniors

Don’t forget Liberty Creek opens up and will take a few from Gallatin.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
