Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground come a bubblin crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ole Jed's a millionaire,
The kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"
Said "Cross Creek" is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Helmsley

County Champs that is. Swimming pools, Football Stars.

Had to come up with something since not many have interest in this ballgame this coming Friday Night.  I really hate it for our friends out at Heritage that are going through this rough time with their football program. Not seen a program around here go through something like this unless you travel up the road 10 or 12 miles into Seymour  to what was once called The Harrison-Chilhowee Lions coached by Lester McCarter back in the 60's and 70's. I used to think that was bad as it could get until now.

I would just about bet Harrison-Chilhowee Lions could of been close in years without a win in football also. I have most of those old Peek Size Football guides from at least 1945 until now and most of them either had 0-8, 0-9 or they didn't turn in their material to company and it had no information some years. Kind of like Hamontree does Murphy Fair when he sends him a packet to fill out and send back. I bet Hamontree thinks it's a collection agency when he gets that in the mail and throws it away before his wife finds it.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
