Maybe I'm wrong.  I haven't looked back in posts on CoachT, but it seems like I remember people talking about NCS having a bunch of transfers that came in late last year or maybe this summer.  Maybe I am way off base.  Supposedly great athletes.  Again, they had a great year.  Not sure that would be considered pot stirring either.

For what it's worth, I remember the same ocac. Not worth digging for it to me (couldn't care less), but glad you put it out there, as it crossed my mind earlier, but decided it wasn't worth the flack.

Yep, I did.  But actually, this was not my first time to post. I used to post in the early/mid 2000's but forgot my login info.  I just come to read the message boards and check scores.  And the main point to my post was  the fact that USJ controlled the game from start to finish, with the fact that the score could have been worse.

I am just glad I never had to listen to cowbells when I played for USJ in the late 90's.  The biggest issue I had with the other night was the fact NCS fans were ringing them when the QB was under center.  In the end, all that matters is USJ won and is headed to Cookeville.  Ready for the Bruins to bring home their first State Title and break the 0-5 streak(which I was a part of my Senior year in '98, when we lost in the Clinic Bowl to Trousdale Co., who might have been the best 1A team of all-time along with their '97 team)!

NCS coach Brothers continues to lose ballgames he should win. The coach benched one of the best players for the playoffs because he got word that the player said he was over-rated as a coach. So in order to win a peeing contest with a 16 year old, he made the team suffer from the benching. He has had world class talent, and beats himself year in and year out. At one time, he had two future NFL players on the team, possibly three if Lawless continues to develop at Carolina. In case others dont know the other two, its Bituli and Givens. He should have a minimum of four titles by now.

I disagree with the players assessment that Brothers is over-rated. I think everyone who has seen him over the years rates him right where he should be. He is an average coach who won one title with out of this world talent in 1A ball, but lets his ego and emotions get in his way. Go somewhere else kids! The new Hillwood High School will destroy this program.

Lawless in your eyes is a future NFL guy???? I thought he was quite average his last year at NCS and had little impact in numerous games.  Oh, by the way, he is in the Transfer Portal so I doubt he will continue to develop at UNC.

Hmmm, you mean the year he was Mr Football? He can continue to develop anywhere. Not many guys that big who play in the middle but make tackles on either sideline. You have no idea what you are talking about.

So Mr Football is a criteria for a future NFL career? Good to know. TN will be well represented. Let's talk about that Mr Football he won with 49 tackles. That ranked him 3rd on the NCS D alone. He was 24th in DII-A. He was the 3rd best Defensive player on that NCS D IMO. I saw them play about 5 times that season so I feel I can speak on it enough.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
