The point is: you rank Monterey coach at 5th when, besides Clay County, there's no one else being debated. Monterey won 2 out of 3 games this season against Clay and won the Regional Championship against Clay. 2 years ago Monterey was in the State semi-final and was in sectional last year. Both teams are going to sectionals again this year. Debating Monterey Coach as 1 or 2 would seem more reasonable.
blueeyes
My son doesn't play basketball, but if he did, and being an 8th grader with the resources to take him anywhere, I would drive him up the mountain to play for Coach West and his brother. You never see him belittle any of his players, very respectful to the referees, and just an upstanding human being. Good things happen for those who do it the right way.... Regional Champs!! All of his players play hard and are good young men so we will leave him out of this equation. In 2014 Monterey won 21 games which is good by any stretch of the imagination. So 4 out of the last 6 years Monterey has had good winning seasons. We will right that off as West being lucky. If my records are correct since 2014 Clarkrange has had 1 winning season, not making the Sub-State. Since 2014 Jackson County has had 3 winning seasons not making the Sub-State. 4 out of the last 6 years Monterey has had 4 winning seasons made it to the Sub-State twice and the State Tournament and could possibly make another appearance but some how West isn't near the coach that Pyle or Thomas are. I am missing something here. I am an old man and did not go to school at any of these schools but I believe in giving credit where credit is due. You will have to help me with your way of thinking sometime but I believe I have proved my point. Wrong. JC made substate in 2016 under different coach who never had losing record in district. That was last season he coached.

That being said great win for the Monterey Wildcats good luck Monday. So Coach West is the 5th best coach. Peyton West isn’t good enough to be district MVP. Only two Monterey players made the all district team. Somebody somewhere is wrong. I’ll let y’all figure out who while we go hang out with our brothers from Clay County next week in Murfreesboro. Coach West deserves more credit than he gets that is for certain. Hopefully these two can play one more time! They didn’t make a wrong decision with the POY award going to Marsh. Remember that’s voted on by the district coaches no one else. Now I would have said the same thing had West been named MVP. The coaches who coach against each other know who the best players are according to how they played against them and they vote accordingly. It’s a team sport so let’s cheer each other on and meet in the finals!
