Hampshire keeps rolling after big win last week. Meeting with Santa Fe and Richland still left. Definitely anybody's district still. Santa Fe is really starting to build momentum. Richland has been very strong in there last two games. Can't believe only a couple weeks left before tournaments.

Don't believe Richland is going to wind up on top in District this year. Especially after a loss to a 5-12 team tonight. They are injury plagued at a bad time. Don't appear to have much depth. Saw Hampshire play few times. They have bench depth as they are constantly rotating players in and out.

Probably be Hampshire on top as they have no District losses. Richland already has 2 District losses.

Santa Fe has 2 District losses. Anything can happen with Santa Fe. Santa Fe and Hampshire play Friday night. With win, Hampshire will win District even if they lose their last game with Richland. If Santa Fe beats Hampshire, and Richland beats Hampshire, there will be 3 teams with 2 District losses.

Hampshire definitely controls their own destiny. Santa Fe has stormed back from a very poor start. Crazy this could end up as a 3 way tie.

Santa Fe has had a rough time this year. Three of their better players  transferred to other schools.  One went to CA, one went to Central, and one went to Summertown. Better opportunity for recognition. This makes it all the more difficult for smaller schools to compete.

Totally agree. Really wish TSSAA would increase classifications especially if football has 6 D1 classifications.

Hampshire held on in overtime against Santa Fe. 58-55.

Hampshire had 16 pint lead in 3rd quarter, Santa Fe tied game at end of regulation. Hampshire' experienced players prevailed in overtime.

Great fight from Santa Fe. Great resolve and composure by Hampshire to hang on for the win. With the win Hampshire guarantees staying opposite of Richland and Santa Fe in the tournament.

and one went to Hampshire... which was the leading scorer for Hampshire's overtime win over Santa Fe the other night.

She went to Hampshire from Central High School, not Santa Fe. I believe she played Middle School at Santa Fe.  She transferred to Central for the Advanced  Collegeiate  Academy program for advanced studies  her freshman year. She transferred to Hampshire from Central 2 years ago. Could have gotten more recognition at Central but likes a smaller school. This is her second year at Hampshire.

Not only is she a good athlete, she maintains a 4.0 , I am told. She won the Freshman Collegiate Academy Scholar award at Central.

Good luck to all in the tournaments.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
