It won’t happen, referee struggle just calling the game now, just imagine how many times you would have controversy over weather the ball hit the ram or not, and you don’t have instant reply.

Good point.

I am for it, but this is one of the cons. I think the good defensive teams should be rewarded. Some times you have kids up defending well and the referee is not even counting. Also, if we are preparing kids to play on the next level then why not implement it?

I would like to see it to, and every thing you said I agree with, but let me give you another problem, in college you have recruited athletes, some times you see teams win by 20/30 points but most of the time the game are competitive, but in high school it would get really bad, for example, Meigs played Sequoyah last night in a district game and it was 40-10 at the half, if you add a shot clock it could’ve easily been 55-5 or worse, and pretty much every district in the state has 1 or 2 top teams and the rest can barely dribble. Good defensive teams get rewarded with 5 seconds and charges. Would be hard to get implemented. I would rather see a charge circle under goal that might help prevent some serious injuries. Issues with shot clock- another ref to expense which could be bad for a small rural 1A school. Would also make for some really bad ball too. Would probably really only benefit a hand full of schools in the end.

Not  when some refs dont count and dont know the rule of what a charge is, lol.

And yes a restricted area is much needed, probably more than the shot clock

I would love to have it, but it would be a nightmare having the refs trying to keep up with it. Would be great for the game, but more capital would be needed to have more quality refs and the cost it would incur.I would love to see it they could come up with a plan.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
