Lipscomb

This next hire will let everyone know how serious LA wants to be in DII-AA. With BA, Ensworth, and MBA staying strong (especially if Skyy Clark transfers in at BA!) Lipscomb needs to nail this. They did a great job getting Dilfer for the football job and with the new administration we need to see the same commitment to basketball. Here are 3 guys they HAVE to reach out to in my opinion.

Pierce (FRA) - great guy who obviously can coach. With connections to the school.

Maddux (CPA) - good coach who has shown his ability to be able to get really good players.

Sonn (GCS) - this would be my #1. Guy has won everywhere he has been.

Hopefully they will not drop the ball on this!

Yeah, what happened to Mantlo? Going in a different direction....

Mantlo wasn’t ready to coach at Lipscomb, they needed to get him out. No way Drew wants to move from CPA to Lipscomb Academy, maybe the university but not Lipscomb Academy. John stays at FRA, do not think he wants to deal with the big boys. Adam would be an interesting fit. He has shown he can win big at the lower level. Would be interesting to see him go against the big boys twice a year.
why would Greg want to come back here from Florida?

I believe they want to get someone in before summer. I still think there is a possibility for teams to have a summer, whether it be just practicing and workouts or the possibility of some team camps. I know some team camps are still promoting their dates for June and there are a few HS coaches promoting their camps as well. I think the pool of coaches will be small so it will be interesting to see who they bring in to talk with.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
