How on Earth Do Teams with 1400 get to play in Divisions against Teams with 800. It's a complete Croc and should never happen.

i mean what Indian is talking about is how they do it in Indiana for Football, as your "conference" does not ALWAYS line up with your 'assigned region' for Football, so i mean in THEORY we could do the same for basketball in TN, good luck getting anyone to do that though, i highly doubt some teams would travel more than 1-2 counties to find any games if that were to happen(outside of the upper cumberland and northwest TN) but that's just my 0.02

 

also to original topic... ask a lot of KY teams how they feel(especially in far west KY, greater Louisville and Greater Cincinnati) how it is to play in districts with teams 4-5 times your size... granted that doesn't mean i like it and i'm sure they could split the state into 3 classes with a similar way to how Arkansas does there classes... but well Kentucky is stuck in their ways

That's not unheard of... our district has two sub 500 student schools, one barely over, and the other five average around 1,000. Smallest at 470... largest at 1200+.

What school?  Seems very odd since those numbers would cover at least 3 classifications

I know in the district he is speaking of you have Scott’s Hill and Adamsville playing with North Side. I assume he is talking about those.

Yep... SH and Riverside are sub 500 students, Adamsville just over.

I don't have much of a dog in this fight as my kid is still in elementary but I do know that Nolensville has to fight against this much more than it benefitting them.  There are multiple kids that are zoned for NHS that go to Ravenwood (where they would have went before NHS was built).  

NHS is still a fairly new school.  This was only the 2nd graduating class to go through the school so they're still getting settled into the proper classification.  They won't be in 4A at the next reclassification, obviously.  The town is growing very, very quickly so I'd imagine they'll be 5A in the next round and potentially 6A after that but I've heard the county is discussing another new HS to go kind of between Nolensville, Ravenwood and Page.  I'm not sure what the zoning for that school would look like or which schools it would pull from the most if it happens.  I believe the capacity for NHS is right around 1700 though.

Hmmmm.  I haven't heard that but just looking at the layout of schools I would think it would have to effect Centennial as well.  I heard Page is getting a new school but not sure of that.  The higher ups have always tried to prop Centennial up to no avail.  I thought Nolensville was built for 2200.  Either way they should be 5A football and AAA in everything else.  Their basketball Region is a joke

I think they're expecting the next area of growth to push down toward Arrington or Triune.  There isn't much space available for new developments in the county so that makes sense.

I'd be shocked if there isn't a new HS to relieve Centennial/Franklin/Indy at some point as well but I have no idea where it would go.

It does.  It's the same way Maryville's 9th Grade Numbers get counted even though they are in a separate building

I didn't read all the post but can see why some people feel one way or the other.I'm old enough to have played back when there was only three classes.My school played up in 3A instead of where we could have in 2A. Maybe it was pride because of all the old traditional rivalry games.Either way,we never won a state title until everything fell into a perfect fit for us.Playing the same size competition didn't hurt but wasn't the only factor by a long shot.It takes a collection of things to become a state championship team and contender for multiple years.Top notch coaches and a community that that helps out is a great starting point.Having the young men who are willing to put in the work year around under great coaches is a must.Weight training and conditioning programs can separate two equally talented teams by a mile. It doesn't hurt anything to have a few D1 type guys,but without leadership and all the other parts,you could still come up short .
