If my entire team comes what are they gonna do?  Not let them all in while your entire team is on the field?  Don’t see how this is enforceable.

If KCS is planning to enforce mask usage and social distancing on the sidelines, they will attempt to enforce this too.

I would like to know if Beech knew about this before they agreed to play.  They lose a home game, travel 2 1/2 hours and cannot have their entire team on the sidelines (assuming they do have over 60).   That is crazy.  Now if they win under those circumstances, doesn’t look good for the home team.

You'd have to ask the coaches, but KCS didn't publicly release these guidelines until 2 days after the teams agreed to play. So who knows. I agree with 22, I'm a little surprised that Beech was willing to give up a home game to come all the way to Powell, but I'm betting they just wanted to play, regardless of who/where the opponent was.

I think for most 5A/6A teams, as long as you don't travel with your freshmen, you can stay below 60.

I’m not sure if the Beech coaches knew about the 60 man rule or not, but I do know they were having a very difficult time finding a late fill in when J Northside backed out. Credit Coach C for understanding how important every game is to his team and how precious every opportunity is for each kid to get to suit up on Friday night.

Ya it kind of is a stupid rule for this year for sure.  Im guessing they they are thinking less players traveled lowers chances of positive cases.  Who knows really?

Somebody thought it was a genius idea and just made up a new rule that seems smart. In reality, it makes no difference whatsoever how many kids are allowed to travel. None. It's a perfect example of making changes just to make changes because it seems right, even though there is no logical reason to do so. It's the old "look what we did and how much we are doing" nonsense. I'm over it!

I credit Crabtree for finding a fill in and a quality team at that.  No slight on Beech’s end at all.  The entire Knox Co 60 player rule is ridiculous when the home team can have the entire squad on the sidelines.  How many does the coach have to tell that hey you can’t travel 15-25 I bet and that is not right. If the kid practices every day they deserve to be on the sidelines.  I knew it wasn’t TSSAA mandated just another over reach by county administrators.

Gallatin sits at 94 kids.  Not all will play every Friday night but all deserve to be on the sidelines.

The article states in line with TSSAA guidelines. This is definitely not a TSSAA recommendation, I verified this yesterday. I can’t imagine this would apply to out of county teams, but nothing really surprises me any longer.

Busch League is a wonderful description.

    • Yeah they both should be good games whoever matches up with who. Wartburg has beaten Oliver Springs all 4 times they’ve played this year but they have been close games. I believe Wartburgs first sectional appearance was last year when they went to North Greene. Good luck to you all!
    • What did they do this year? Every other year, I’ve gone to one. It’s been a little scrimmage and then a bunch of games like a quarterback throwing challenge, O line versus D line, push-up challenge, etc.    But not surprised, nothing new that the program has been on the decline since they lost their recruiting middle school coach. The baseball coach still does his fair share, but he recruits good baseball players. Not good football players, and decent baseball players, definitely nothing like the middle school coach could do, he left for a middle school job down near Cleveland high school a few years back.
    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
