Yeah, 5A was a complete screw job. No way Kalib Fortner shouldn’t have won. Plays better competition and had the better stats for his position. It’s all about who’s committed to where. Complete BS.

Not gonna doubt the level of competition Central plays, but Kollie had 1900 all purpose  yards and over 100 tackles. Destin Wade nearly 3000. Fortner had 85 tackles and 200 all purpose yards. Kinda hard to claim favorites when the stats favor the other 2 finalists

If our RBs, better yet Kalib’s brother Liam, would’ve ran against the same teams Kollie did they would have EASILY had that many all purpose yards. Heck Liam had over 1500 vs the teams we play. Wade deserved the award before Kollie did. Either way it was a screw job and the only reason he won it is because of where he’s committed. Change my mind :popcorneater:

Once again, not disputing the level of competition, you said he has better stats, which he doesnt. 1900 AP yards and 100 tackles > 200 AP Yards and 85 tackles. Your acting like him winning the award was based solely on his college choice when he has the stats to back it up

i’m honestly shocked Wade didnt win it. Seemed to be the best player in 5A and even beyond that for alot of the year. Including a heck of a tear through the postseason to win a state title

Agreed. He was the most dynamic guy as an OR fan I saw all year, and add to that the fact that his team won it all too? Only seems right to me to give him the award.

Unfortunately, voting ends well before end of the playoffs. I've always been for having the awards a few weeks later so postseason play can be accounted for

dumb. it should definitely take playoffs into account. but even before that i don’t see how anyone in 5A was better than him. he is quite possibly P4P the best football player in the state of tennessee this year. definitely atleast in the conversation

Right there with ya. Unfortunately, some voters view it as a career achievement award. It won't be easier for him to win the award next yr moving up to 6A

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
