I have seen several West TN teams play and in single A, Halls, Trenton, USJ(when football players get there), and Greenfield in that order.

I did not know pre-season games (hall of fame games) counted on regular season records. I guess for ranking purposes only is OK. Gomab Milan has beaten Humboldt and Trenton since being demolished by Bolivar and letting Haywood escape. Milan is not playing well at all right now, but did show signs of improvement against Trenton. Until Milan gets Rod Smith and Jonathan Hutkins from football they will struggle, as it makes most every one else play out of position and it also seems Coach Shepard is giving time to people who later will not see the floor. Henry just came back this week finally and is looking good.

recheck on size of brandon wright for brentwood academy.

reports are he is about 6-7, 190 with extremely long wing span. he is a good shot rejector as he often blocks shots where they can be kept in play, as opposed to going out of bounds.

BA plays MLK in their opener, but their football players have had very little work. good spot for them at second, but that is closer to a later season ranking than where they are now.

You have McGavock, and Stratford in the top 25...McGavock only beat Franklin by 5 in a close close game. Franklin started 2 sophmores and didn't play Josh Refegee or Ryan Nichols (2 starters who had just returned from football). They were a good team, but not top 25. Look at the stats, Franklin dominated for 3 quarters and lost a 10 point lead in the 3rd quarter. McGavock, top 25, no. Also, Franklin scrimmaged Stratford less than a week before season began. Again starting 3 sophmores Franklin won. They must have gotten really good over that one week period. Rumor has it that half of their team won't be eligible due to grades anyways. Stratford, top 25, don't see it. Either way good luck to both teams they are definately talented, but didn't impress me that much when we played them.

Note: Franklin also beat Antioch in preseason...but Antioch beat Hilsboro who is very good....how is that?

Good luck to all the teams and thanks CoachT for your rankings.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
