It’s been a loooooong time since the Bulldogs got the best of the Lions. But that don’t really matter, does it? Gleason is doing really well this year, but can they beat their just-to-the-north nemesis? Methinks not only will our packed stadium look great under those new lights, but that upcoming new scoreboard (ready by Friday?) will be showing off a big WIN for our Lions too! Don’t know how big of a win, but whether by 1 or 71, a win is a win. GOOOOO LIONS! #1 ALL THE WAY!

gleason by 35.   then i wake up from a nightmare and see it's a 27-0 win for the Lions

Haha! You like me Hog.. if you wagered on games them bookees would make big buck$ off of us! .. Only one time did I bet, in my youth, $400 for the underdogs with 11 point spread, they were losing by 13.. uhggg, with less than a minute they had ball goal to go, which if they score I’d win.. man I was excited.. the big powerhouse college stopped them with seconds left.. NO!!! .. And very last play they took a knee in the endzone for a safety, thus my team lost by 11, but it was a tie bet-wise. Whew wee.Never bet again. .. Only time I was sorely tempted to bet was the very first time Dresden had been ranked high in polls, we were #2, but the top team lost in our bye week, now we are #1 (one early loss to McKenzie), with Huntingdon next, last game of regular season. I would have hocked everything I owned & pushed all in on us finally winning! YES! And on that brrrrr coooold game down there, them ‘stangs spanked us. Bad…42-13.. ouch..  I was beside a car as one of their guys was getting into it, he told his dad (or gramps?), “#1 my *** “donkey””.. I had to laugh, couldn’t help it. I think that was our silver ball year, too. We have them as our Nemesis.. we are Gleason’s, and Westview was ours too until we finally beat them, since then it’s been competitive. South Fulton stopped us on the 2yd line on last play of game a few years back, keeping us out of playoffs and them in it.. and since then they’re a better team. They proved to themselves they could win, and if a team can ever beat their rivalry nemesis, it usually changes everything! If Lions don’t have right attitude & approach to this game, Gleason has the tools to beat us this year! Our guys better be ready, for real! <<And you know all this too, firsthand & up close & personal, ringside seats for most of this if memory serves me right. .. I’ve always wondered if a few things/positions changed around here (hey, it could happen!) & the opportunity was offered, would you do it again? That gym room & teams strength has never been the same, for real. The ones who been around awhile have said same thing too, it ain’t been same and folk wonder “what if?” alot. Just thought you should know. But it is what it is, & that’s ok too. Life is full of surprises and we never know what’s just around the corner, do we?

This game is a big one in the region race.  This winner sets themselves up for a showdown with McKenzie.  Dresden will face McKenzie first and then we turn around with Gleason the following week.  Big game for all involved.  This region, even though McKenzie is the heavy favorite, is still wide open and you have to play the game.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
