Oh I have complete faith in 28 and 11, when asked about possible sloppy conditions I feel Gordonsville has a more downhill mentality than us. Those two can get it done and are very good at it, however our identity is not downhill but edge and speed. So as for who has the advantage in sloppy conditions I believe it goes back to Gordonsville, because it fits more of their identity this season. I agree whoever wins the trenches has a huge advantage and will most likely win the game. That is why 61, 54, 57, and 60 really need to be stout up front on offense and at least make the Gordonsville DL work to disrupt anything in our backfield. Also we need 6,33,54,57, and if possible 52. To really get their motors running and bottle the Gordonsville QB up and make him throw into the teeth of our defense. When they send 40 this week he has to get home because I have watched first hand what the Gordonsville QB can do if he gets lose. I still believe we can beat this bunch but it is an uphill climb.

61,54,57 & 60.  Must not think much of the 5th lineman

56 sophomore with this Friday going to be his 16 or 17 start. Should have a Kudo or two.

All too true.  He’s done well.  Saw time as you referenced last year and has played a ton this year.  An unsung hero.  Has played guard and tackle both.  Hasn’t seen the D-line as much but recorded some stops last week at York when he had the chance.

Going to be a cool wet night on Main St, with a very wet field. The weather the rest of the week is not going to allow the field to dry any. The stat that sticks out to me is the strength of schedule. Clay Co has played nine games  and their opponents have a combined 24 wins and 52 losses. Gordonsville has played nine games, I'm including the Covid with against Oliver Springs and their opponents have a combined 41 wins and 35 losses. Clay County has played one team this year that is currently .500 or better while Gordonsville has played five teams that are currently .500 or better.

When Gould went down early in game two (I think). 56 was moved from TE to guard for basically rest of the season. I think when your in a small school and thrust into starting on one side before your time, it can hinder your development on the other side of the ball.  In this case starting O and scout O.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
