Oak Ridge is a very dangerous team this year in my opinion. If they can get the offensive line sured up....they will be a hard team to stop offensively.

Looked really good against Fulton, I hear. Not sure what they have this year, but we usually suck in scrimmages, so a good sign, maybe? Yeah, we are loaded at the skill positions. Actually, Cummings said on video that it is the most athletes he has ever had on one team, which is saying something since he coached those great West teams with Cottrell and Marshall, etc. Like you said, if we can get some lineman to block even fairly well, could be something to behold. We shall see.

Kingston had flashes here and there of looking pretty good, but didn't look as good as some Kingston teams I've seen in the past. I don't know how many starters they have coming back off last year's team. Maybe they're just young and inexperienced or was just working on things they already know that need fine tuning.

Thanks 92. I remember when Kingston could hang with most teams. Clinton still have that mobile QB?

I think Kingston will be ok. Looking at their schedule, I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 7-3 or better. Yes, I've seen some really good Kingston teams over the years.

Clinton will have him for the next 2 years. He's definitely the spark plug of our offense.

What did you think about Coalfield?  Do they look like 1A contenders?

Coalfield had some good looking players. One that stood out to me was a tall wide receiver wearing #2. He looked like he was around 6'4. The qb #3 looked good at times also. They hung in there with both Kingston and Clinton and didn't back down one bit. They don't seem to have that standout running back that they seem to have year in and year out.

I saw them running a lot of shotgun/pistol formation with read option plays. I think they'll definitely win their region or finish no worse than 2nd. But they'll need to stay healthy to do so. They look like they didn't have as many players as they normally have

Clinton defense looked really good on CAK's first possession. Held CAK to negative yardage and forced a punt.

Clinton moves the ball down field in about 5 plays and scores on a short td run to take the lead 7-0.

CAK looks better on their second possession. Moving the ball down to the Clinton 35 and now we are in a weather delay.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
