South Gibson Head Coach Opening

How attractive is this job? I do believe South Gibson will continue to grow further down the road. However, they're at the bottom on the 4A list in enrollment. They're only 9 students away from being 3A. So I don't see them moving to 5A anytime soon (I don't see them growing that fast). Why is that important? Because unless someone in Region 7-4A defeats Haywood consistently, the Tomcats are going to run this region for a while. I don't see Haywood moving to 5A either anytime soon unless the Ford "Blue Oval" project bumps them up to 5A.

First, I want to congratulate Coach Stidham on a new opportunity. His teams may never matched up talent wise against their opponents, but they're always ready to play. They're a gritty team.

I want the new coach at South Gibson to bring a new voice and change the offense. I didn't realized how many one possession games South Gibson played over the last few seasons. I thought that was the reason why I never considered South Gibson as a "threat" to make it deep in the playoffs. I thought they never dominated in really any of their games.

I do believe there's 3 candidates that are good fits for this program. Two of them are probably looking for a change of scenery and the other may want to be a head coach again. I do think it's an attractive job, and I don't think SGC should have to look far. But they probably should still make phone calls.

SGC is really going to miss his leadership. I wish him nothing but the best, and hope he finds what he is looking for. Wherever he lands, they are getting a great coach. I kinda had a feeling this was coming, just wanted to hope that it was not true. SGC better hire a world class coach, if not they are going to get slapped into reality.

Good luck to Coach Stidham. Nothing but class on and off the field.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
