They have been using the old tigers den weight room that was used before the field house was built. Isn’t the greatest but better than not doing anything. All the racks and weights are back in the field house, it just hasn’t been completely finished yet.

What about those antique visitors bleachers. Hope the flood washed them.all the way to New Johnsonville!

Be glad to take donations for a new set of visitor bleachers. As much as all y’all complain about the visitor section… guess we will just pass around a bucket to the visitors side at games. We just don’t have the funds.

  • 2 weeks later...

After the first week of pads how are you all feeling about your team?

Rumors around Cheatham county says the Cubs look like the bad news bears. War Eagles are looking like the worst news bears. Those 2 teams will go a combined 4-16.

Looking at returning rosters Fairview looks like the team to beat. Their running back was dominant last season. I believe they also return several linemen.

Waverly I would suspect, will take a small step back. The qb they had last year will be hard to replace.

Heritage got an upgrade at the HC position.

I know nothing about the other 2 in the region.

Cheatham and Sycamore I’m not surprised by. Will know more about Waverly tonight. They scrimmage Milan

The QB stepping in for waverly has made very tremendous progress. He’s got confidence, he can read a defense very well, he has an amazing deep ball and is also athletic in the pocket. Let’s just see if he can do it in full pads.  Waverly returns 2 starting wrs from last year, one of which was second in touchdowns as a sophomore. They return who practically took over as RB 1 last year and he has put on big time muscle. The starting oline all returns except center. The hard part is gonna be replacing the studs at middle linebacker and corner. New guys gotta step up and progress fast.

Thank you to Waverly for coming over to Milan tonight for the scrimmage. Some bright spots for both teams and some things both need to tighten up. Look like both came out injury free and got in some good work with a lot of players. Maybe we can do it again next year at y’all’s place.

I thought Waverly’s QB looked good tonight. He throws a nice ball and looked athletic. I was impressed if this is his first year as QB1. I think he will have a good year. Good luck to Waverly on the season.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
