I originally had Boone winning on Aug 26, but I recently heard some rather disheartening news about our team, so I'm going to label our game against you as a toss-up at this point.   I saw a West Ridge player in the grocery store recently, I asked him about the team and he seems to think too many guys graduated and it's going to be more of a rebuilding year.   I tried to encourage him and said just play each game as hard as you can and let the outcome be whatever it is.    Except of course the Boone game, lol.....

Defense will be very stout but the offense is going to struggle.     We have an all-state kicker/punter so that will help out.    Guaranteed losses will be Elizabethton, Science Hill and CAK.   The other games are winnable but I think we can go 6-4.

Sure hope you're right.     (Run...Run...Incomplete Pass...Punt)  gets old after a while.    I really believe the defense will carry this team but they can only do so much.     Sure hope we finally get to play West Ridge, especially after missing the South game in 2020 and the WR game last year due to covid.   Maybe this could turn into a good rivalry eventually.

Can't wait to make the trip to Sullivan County.     Boone has a new video board too.    Actually it is an iPad duct-tapped to the top of the fieldhouse, but if you use binoculars it looks the same as a video board.

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
