Board has been stale so here is a little spice.  I put all D2 schools in one pot:

1. LA - no question

2. McCallie - reloaded

3. CPA - still well coached

4. MBA - solid on both sides of the ball.  Defense will be good

5. BA - massive young O-line

6. MUS - returns solid Defense

7. Baylor - decent returning team with a new college HC

8. Knox Catholic

9. Lausanne

10. Christian Brothers

I couldn’t justify Pope Prep to myself to be in top 10.  Loaded skill positions but lost there entire O-line I believe.  I wanted DCA to make it because they have a great coach,  but don’t see them beating any team listed.  Now let’s here it!

looks right to me.  LA plays CPA and knox catholic plus CPA plays BA, MBA and oakland so we should get some good head to head info.

I would love to hear thoughts on an overall top 10 for the state.  LA is ranked above oakland in at least one preseason national poll but I might give the nod to oakland then LA since they won last year.  haven't seen any other TN teams mentioned nationally, so maryville, mccallie...

Good list. Not sure though how long McCallie can stay on top of Div. 2- AAA. And Riverdale lost a good bit on D. And then there’s that O that moved at the speed of a glacier last year. But they do have a new OC.

yeah, dont disagree with your list.

riverdale picked up a QB from lipscomb who should be pretty good and a good kid.  just wasn't going to get much playing time for his upcoming junior year.

I ranked Riverdale because of the transfer and new OC.  The QB can sling it. LA was scary last year with 3 QBs that all could have started elsewhere.

We get to see 3 of these top 7 in a month or so. This should be very interesting.

IMO, I think LA is a pretty clear cut favorite as the top team in the state. Oakland will be solid on defense and up front, but hard to replace the kind of talent they lost to graduation. Given the schedule they have, 2-3 losses wouldn't surprise me. Don't even consider them the best team in 6A at this point

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
