Beat Mallard Creek out of Charlotte like a drum last night to the tune of 56-7

It’s been a while since Mallard Creek has had a really good team but Buford is legit. Watched some highlights of that game.

definitely proud of LA for these 2 road wins.  respect to thompson though.  their defense and peter woods was insane.  held LA to 10 points on offense.  I think LA showed a lot of promise to keep getting better because if the second half d shows up for a full game, they will be tough to beat.  offense needs some rhythm but I am curious to see how much of that was just thompson's incredible D.

after 2 huge road games, i'm psyched for this 8 game home stretch!!  LA has a pretty good record at home of late...

maybe I am biased but I think this is good for TN football in general.  i know oakland just won against a good out of state opponent and others are too.  I like putting our best against other states best and seeing what happens.  i'm sure it has been going for a while for teams like maryville, alcoa, mccallie, BA, etc but I am new-ish to football as my kids get into it.

on a side note it was clear, in addition to kaleb beasley and edwin spillman, that bryan longwell was one of the best players on the field and he gets very little attention from a recruiting standpoint.  but I guess that is about to change.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
