I'll be anxious to see how many teams add numbers or start new programs this season. Not to hijack this A thread anymore, but there will be some tough teams in that his classification this year. We get to see Halls, PF, and Gibbs quite a bit and each one has been building up for this season. I'm a big fan of all 3 and want to see one of them win it all. So we have enough numbers to split the boys into 3 divisions including public & private but not the girls. It’s ok for the girls to wrestle the big/bad privates but not the boys. This sounds like a discrimination case waiting to take place and everyone knows that the T$$AA is never proactive. While I am poking the bear this will be an issue that must be dealt with and that will be sooner rather than later. On another note I am not sure that we will ever see more than 25% of the private schools in Tennessee having wrestling teams.

I see your point, but until it gets split I will enjoy competing against the private schools and hope they continue to build up their numbers. There weren't that many girls from the DII schools competing last season but I'm sure they're going to keep growing. It's the way I had it back in the day and the way it should be now. I have been told that Harpeth Hall, GPS and all of the Catholic schools will never be allowed to have female wrestling. With that being said we must understand that we are in the South and wrestling is not considered something that women should do. Possibly in 25 years attitudes will change. Biffmar4
According to the SEC wrestling isn’t something men are supposed to do either.

Knox Catholic had 3 or so qualify for State last season. I don't know of St. Andrew's is a Catholic school but their whole team was pretty good last year.

St. Andrew’s Sewanee is an Episcopal school and to be honest they are positioned to have a great mens program if they would just invest a few of their resources into mens wrestling. Attitudes and policies will definitely change in the coming years, but from what I have been told I don’t see the majority of private schools in Tennessee sponsoring girls wrestling teams. Again, in twenty or twenty-five years anything is possible. Few people ever thought that the Berlin Wall would ever be torn down and look what happened.
