48 Minutes Left

We all get on here debate, babble, banter, ridicule, poke, pick, and try to stir a pot.  But let's all remember that tonight, for some of these boys, it is the last 48 minutes most of them will ever wear a football jersey.  We have all been there.  The last time the roar of the crowd makes the bleachers shake.  The last time you get to smell that grass.  The smell of blood, sweat, and tears that permiate a locker room.  The smell of a charcoal grill in the air as you begin warm ups.  The little boy as seen through the eyes of mom and dad that takes that one final glance in the stands before the toe meets the leather of the football to get the, "I love you....play hard" look or mouthing of the lips.  The final time you run through that victory line, or through that big blow up helmet, or break through that sign those cheerleaders have made.  Memories that will forever be cemented in the minds and hearts of these young men.  It's more than a game.  It's the sum total of many years of hard work, and life lessons that will pay off way more than a football game ever will.

Good luck to all tonight and stay injury free.

Nice post. That's what makes the playoffs so much fun. It's the fact that any game night be the last for the season. And for the players it could be their last ever.

Sadly, most of them won't understand just what they are a part of until years down the road when it's too late to matter. They may know now that they belong to something special, but to be truly appreciated and understood it seems like time has to pass to fully grasp how special it is.
