I expect the best years of Gordy matchups are ahead of us, which may be hard to believe.

You may be right.

We play quite a bit more younger kids than I expected we would coming into this season, especially since we only lost 3 starters on each side of the ball.

They have gained quite a bit of experience that will only help in the coming years, so, hopefully we won't have the dropoff we did in 2013 after losing a comparable number of seniors.

Man I haven’t thought about it but it seems like even the season has a 2006 feel sort of. Team just isn’t quiet there and then next year they explode. If I’m not mistaking I think we are playing a few freshman on offense and defensive lines at times. Glad to see #3 healthy (another freshman)

The 2006 team never got over that game with Temple when Temple showed up with all those ringers from the previous year.  They were plenty good enough to have gone deep.  I don't think anyone is in this teams head.

The 2006 team had the athletes and they showed it the next year. FWIW, that Gville team was good enough to go deep as they lost in the second by one point to Friendship who ended as the runner up. So, there was no shame in losing to that Gville team.

You forget we played Murphy this year.  I don’t think Gordy is anymore physical than them in my opinion

No, I remember. That was a Lee Corso College Ganeday reference. However, the concern for me is SP hasn’t been challenged in a long time up front. They for sure will be on Friday…and obviously that’s not our strength. If the Pirates win, it’s bc of offense. I think it takes 35 to win

I wasn't trying to imply that Gordy wasn't good that year.  However, we got shelled at home in the 1st round in one of the worst playoff losses SP ever had.   FC shelled Temple following the game with you guys.

It might, and might not. We increased by 50 students in 2 years, and we'll have a similar number in 2 years, but it's likely to drop a little in the classification after.

Croz I see Gordonsville in a 2A region with Carthage, Trousdale, Cannon and Jackson and maybe  Westmoreland. If Westmoreland stays in a west region you could take either Monterey or York.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
