The pecking order this year in 1 A was:

Mckenzie

Fayetteville

Peabody/MASE

Clay

Gordonsville

Nobody else was truly a legit contender. McKenzie is stout all the way around. I will be shocked if they don’t walk away with a 3 touchdown win at the minimum. That’s not a knock against Clay but a tip my hat to the Rebels. I know people will say you never know look at what SP did to them last year. Yes, and SP had two beasts on the defensive front that ate all game long and 3 very special playmakers on offense. CC doesn’t have those. Best of luck to both teams in a hard fought, injury free game! May the best team win.

Why wouldn’t you throw Dresden in the mix? I don’t how you can’t!

Fayetteville was the best Class A team I’ve seen this year and McKenzie beat them by 2 at home so I’ve got to believe they are just as good obviously. Clay is a huge underdog in this one. No one will expect them to be in the game so they won’t have anything to lose!  They have athletes all over the field that much is for sure. For those of you that don’t know about Clay County I’d do my research. They had one of their own playing on ESPN tonight for the Tennessee Vols basketball team as a starter!  This small school is no stranger to championship games. Most of these boys have one state championship ring already from the hard court in 2021’. So they will show up regardless of how big of an underdog they may be.

That's all we want as Rebel fans, we want y'all's best game! In the end no excuses for either team. Line up and play hard nosed football. Go Rebels!

I would agree with most on this thread that the Rebels will be the favorite.  But....This is the state championship and we are going to have to bring the same intensity as we did last night vs MASE.  There are no bad teams playing nex weekend, and I can assure all that the Rebels respect Clay County.  As I put in other threads, no need for me to make a prediction on who I think is going to win.  The icon on the left will tell you that.

Looking for a good ballgame and injury free.

I named what I thought were the top 4 in the west. Dresden can compete, but didn’t think they had enough to compete for it all. That’s why I also left South Pittsburg off the east list since they were down up front.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
