Let's start a place where we can make predictions about teams, regions, coaches, schools, whatever for 2023.     As next season progresses you can always tag a post made here and say "See, I told you so....".      Some realignment has happened so some of us will be playing new teams.     Lot of schools graduating 20+ seniors.... rebuilding or reloading??     So lots to discuss between now and when 2023 kicks off.    Just keep it in the 5A/6A space please.

Yeah me too, a little premature on that.  For some reason OR fans think that Powell and West will be down next year.  Powell returns a ton (the whole o line) minus the three receivers and qb.  West loses alot, but they have the athletes to plug in.  OR loses a ton as well, until we find a number of decent lineman to work with, I just can't see this.  We need to start the year with lots more big fellas, they just aren't out for football.  By the end of the season, the 5 we had out there was all that was left, literally.

I’ve just come to accept the fact that Oak Ridge is devoid of big linemen. It’s like a curse or something. Seriously, this has been an ongoing issue for what, 10 years or so now? Almost, at least.

Yeah at least since 2015.  The 14 line had five guys go play college ball.  But again when they were at OR they couldn't block me, you, BC Jr. and Walmart Bag Guy.  If we brought an extra guy and blitzed your dad it would be all over with.  lol.

I get that, and you're right. I went out on a pretty big limb, but every year there's a team or so who puts it together a little bit unexpectedly, and I think that has a chance to be Oak Ridge next year. Maybe I'm putting too much faith in Cummings, but I couldn't go all favorites with my picks, because that's not how it usually ends up playing out. When push comes to shove, I wouldn't be surprised to see Powell or West represent the East in 5A next year, but I had to give just one for the list lol.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
