MJ over Hunters lane

Gallatin over Station Camp

Wilson Central over Northwest

Warren County over White County

Upperman over Lebanon

Green Hill over West Creek

Cookeville has an early bye

*Cookeville beat pure academy. Two games in and they seem improved. Warren Co. lost to an ok 4a White Co. team. MJ, Green hill and Wilson Central are 2-0. Gallatin seems improved after two games, and Lebanon lost to Upperman..

  • 2 weeks later...

I seem to be the only one wanting to hang onto this thread… with that being said Green hill is 3-0, along with MJ and Wilson central(???) Lebanon and Cookeville look formidable as well. Gallatin has lost to a pair of good teams, and Warren Co.. is Warren Co.

I’d guess over the next few weeks some separation at the top of the region will occur, IMO Wilson Central is a fluke 3-0, Green Hill beat a down Summit team but I’m sure they think their world beaters. Lebanon looks trickier than I thought coming into the season. Gallatin could win out their reg season. Thoughts?

QB play has been tremendous in the region this year, MJ, Gallatin, Lebanon, GH, and Central all have good Qbs and can throw the ball. It wasn’t like this years ago.

IMO, I do not see things staying the same as they look right now.  I think MJ is the top dog but the others are really gonna get jostled around.  I know I would have loved to have had a few of these teams schedules instead of ours for wins but I know Gallatin will be better off for these first 3 games.

I kinda see what you’re saying but station camp is 0-3. Not really sure they’ll make too much noise in 4a. Hville got humbled and MJ has been less than impressive through 3 games. The region may be well contested but honestly if MJ is the best we have, that’s not saying much. Imo

You expecting a deep run out of this region?

Not in the least, Oakland and Riverdale would make 1 and 2 in our region, would even go as far to say Siegel would make our 3rd place… It’s an inevitable fate waiting our region come playoffs. I don’t want to take away from the success of winning the region because that’s still an impressive feat. However I just can’t see any success coming from this region in terms of playoff success. Next year maybe a Different story.

I’m not sure we are a bad region but we are definitely not the best.  3 weeks in a few teams are showing they are really good.  Lots of teams in 6A are fair to medium with only a few great ones.  I would guess only our region winner gets past the first round unless a couple of teams keep getting better than where they are currently.  Good topic.

Week 4 matchups

(MJ) at Warren County

(Gallatin) at Dickson County

(Lebanon) at Cookeville

Wilson Central at (Green Hill)

My picks are in ( ).

I’m with MJ on this one. I think MJ is the best team in the region, but I don’t think it’s a very good region. Schedules will help many of the teams have good records, but there very well could be a 1st round sweep come playoff time. I will say Gallatin appears to be improved from last year, but I still don’t think they’re very good. Not sure about Lebanon, but they could end up surprising some people. WC and GH may be better than what we all thought. And who knows about Cookeville.

There can always be a surprise.  Anything can happen on a Friday night.

IMO, this is an average region that has the potential to be  better down the road. WC, Cookeville and Gallatin have new staffs, Lebanon is down but most years will be solid, Green Hill seems to be in good hands with Crouch.

Unfortunately for them, Murfreesboro/RuCo  has gotten better top to bottom, I think the only team from 4-6A with a good chance to advance is the 1 seed. It does seem like most of the teams in 4-6A are young so that could very well change 1-2 yrs from now

I think overall, most teams are improved.. the problem is so have Ruco. It’s just a crappy luck of the draw.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
