JEFF COUNTY at OR

This game will not make or break OR's season but I think it is important for the Wildcats to win.    Powell is coming up after this one and you don't want to start the season 0-2.     Not sure what Jeff Co has this year but I'm pulling for OR because they are 5A, and I would love to see a Boone/Oak Ridge playoff game at some point although that is very unlikely to ever happen.     So go Cats!

I don't want to look ahead but I don't consider the game with Powell to be an automatic loss for OR, if that's what you meant. I do agree with you that the Jefferson County game is important

jeff County traditionally is big up front and likes to control the ball and play defense, hoping to cash in on a turnover. The key to this game may be how well their defense can cover Oak Ridge's receivers.  If they can't it will be a long night for the Patriots. For Oak Ridge, avoiding turnovers and better tackling in the secondary is a key. I understand the Patriots fared pretty well in a scrimmage against West, so the Wildcats cannot take them lightly,  I think OR wins this one 21-7.

Will be a typical first game. Team that limits turnovers and avoids special teams debacles will win. Jeff has really struggled on special teams since Riley has been there. In scrimmages, Jeff has handled Knox West and completely dismantled Davy Crockett (who is completely terrible again). OR has held their own vs Fulton and Maryville (who is way down). It will be competitive

OR takes this one 28 -13...Jefferson County will have no answer for Heyward, Rembert, or Pressley and they won't have much luck tackling Dozier. Stansberry will have a solid game but may take a few weeks to grow up and develop, but he will be a good one. Our defense is a concern overall but I still feel good about this game.

    • And yes, in 2010 Clary/Scott Monger got into it with a R’dale fan. Well, mostly Monger lol. I think the fan took a swing at him. It’s funny as all get out listening to it on the replay. Scott told the guy to sit his a** down. Lol. That wasn’t the only time SM got into it with an opposing team. Seems like he got into it with someone at William Blount one year. He was an OG lol
    • Nope, they knew lol. He was just one tough hombre. Played right up to near the end of the Powell game like that and we almost won. I think they beat us, 21-17. Was a valiant effort on his part though.
    • No, that was in 2010. We played them in the quarterfinals in ‘11 the year I’m talking about, but we got hammered 35-14. 2010 was a fun year though. Played Maryville in the semis and gave them a really tough game for the majority of that game, but their depth eventually wore OR down, 38-21. Bradley had a few awesome runs in that game. He was a stud. Nothing fancy, but like I said, a mini Tebow. Would keep that read option up the middle and pound that tater in there. He was hard to bring down. Probably went for 195 lbs, if that.
    • Gibson County will be good next year as well. The five girls that didn't start last year are all solid and we have Micah Hart's sister coming up this year. We  will be very competitive especially late in the year. May lose some this summer getting girls reps and trying to figure things out but we are going to be good.
    • Dyersburg will be really good for a while. Their JV is loaded as well. South Gibson ought to be much better with four really good players coming up from an undefeated  Jr. High Team. Also will have 3 players back from knee injuries last year. They will be a handful especially late. Dyersburg District right there with the Upperman District with quality teams.
