Thank you for the info. I looked the rule up and noticed it doesn't define targeting. I would think this needs to be defined in the rules. We all know what it is in college because they tell us the definition every Saturday when it comes up. This should be included in the NFHS rules although there is no replay to confirm it so it is up to the refs judgement. There's a can of worms right there.

Yeah, the definition is in different section of the rule book...

Rule 2 Section 20 Article 2 - Targeting is an act by any player who takes aim and initiates contact against an opponent above the  shoulders with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulders.

Although, you could, it's not typical to have an ejection in HS for targeting.

100% it should be called and Coaches plus players held accountable. It is a rule and rules are to be followed plain and simple.

But they are wanting to be like College and Pro players who do not follow this.

Let a kid get a helmet straight to the knee cap and see how soon the law suits and Insurance Policy are upheld do to the neglect of the players and Coaches for lack of administration.

Kudos to the Referees who flag the Guilty.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
