The Rich are buying up all the Land in Roan Mtn and running the farmers and working folks out. Hard to keep a little piece of Heaven quiet for too long. They’ve already moved everyone out of Avery Co.

I know 10 acres they won't be getting. Was raised in Avery County before they took it over.Avery Co Is a totally different place from when I grew up there.

Avery County has gone soft too.  They haven't fielded a physical football team since the early 00's.  That's what happens when a community fills up with liberals.  Even had their basketball teams play with masks during the plandemic.

Completely different culture, had rough ole boys when I grew up, Had some dang good football teams as well.

I wouldn’t have either but they do have 5 high schools ranging from 1a to 4a in Carter County.  Scott only has two with Scott High and Oneida (3a and 2a) and Morgan County has 4 in Wartburg, Coalfield, Oakdale, and Sunbright (one 2a school and 3 1a schools).  I could see it just based on the size of schools and how many schools are in each County

Elizabethton don’t really count being it’s a city school. They have a different school board and superintendent. So there is 4 high schools and 1 city high school. Do any of those counties have a city high school

It’s not much different from when I grew up. Half the county has always been country clubs and seasonal residents.

Liberals lol the county votes almost 75% Republican. 3 straight wrestling state championships says they aren’t to soft. The mask was a state rule during Covid

Linville resort was the only Resort when I grew up, now you have a slew but none of those people send kids to school, most are just there for the summer or retired.

All the Country Clubs were around when I was little. I can remember when they raced Porches at the airport in Elk River when I was little.

Reckon Watauga Co is the only County around that votes Democratic.

Are you being Serious? I refuse to believe that any Mtn Co in NC or TN votes Democratic. It’d be in their best interest to. But that’s a totally different conversation. I’m shocked to say the least. Mtn folks tend to vote conservative like 90% of West Virginia. Must be some blue dog Democrats that are actually blue Republicans.

Well I know Scott County High School and Oneida High School have different school districts and Director of Schools but wouldn't say they were a "City School".  I guess you could take Greeneville out of Greene County numbers and make it 4 high schools and 1 city school too since its a different district.

    • Hmmmmmm doe dee doe doe……sounds like they are leaving Geenback faster than the lawnmower will go in fifth gear.  Hmmmm….. you can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • West looked solid...excited to see this young group excel
    • When you have a school that right at 200 kids only half are going to be male and to get 25% of them to come out for football is a very hard task. Take away an 8th grade syatem and your you have another hill to climb up. If 5 kids are actually leaving your not going to have enough for practice. Your only chances for wins would be against the weakest of weak teams. At one time Greenback had kids coming across the wall like the Mexican Border and now their leaving town before sundown. A hugh mistake was made on not hiring Ryan back because of his ties to the community and his ability to bring in the right kids, not run them off. The last coach failed because he wasn't one of community so they go out and do it again. I'm sure Coach Clemmer is a good person because I do know people that do like him but he is caught in the middle of a fan base that will not support him no matter what and it could lead to a disaster if that many kids are leaving the program. The person that caused all of this mess has no business on the school board and needs to stick with hiding in the bushes giving out speeding tickets to out of towners coming through.
    • My outsider looking in perspective is Oliver Springs, Coalfield, Rockwood, and Harriman: fill out the top 4 good teams that beat up on the bottom and will all be in a good place to win in the 1st round with one team maybe making it farther. Midway: funnily enough in the middle an alright team that can beat the teams below them but not the top 4 misses the playoffs but still has a decent record. Oakdale, Greenback, Sunbright: round out the bottom each team has its problems and with a rough region and challenging non-conference records may not be pretty. Oakdale graduated lots of talent and experience, Greenback is in all sorts of internal turmoil with their new coach, and Sunbright small roster tough region not tons of Fb played. (Teams could be rearranged with other teams in their groups but this is how I see them finishing)
    • Kids quitting to focus on one sport could be a worry but multi-sport athletes transferring out would damage more than just football so I think the people who made this decision could find out they are going to get burned in multiple ways.
