Oak Ridge Basketball

Oak Ridge goes to the Freeport in the Bahamas and wins their first 3 games over Sunland Baptist 58-44,  Jonesboro, Georgia 45-43 and Dekalb Georgia 60-58. On to the semifinals tomorrow. How bout having to go to the Bahamas to play to teams from the Atlanta area!

i'll take it.  Jonesboro was ranked #6 in 6a in GA going into the tournament, so a good quality win for our guys.

OR has a good mix of players. Coach Green does a good job of coaching and playing a lot of the guys. Fun group to watch.

Any thoughts on high school BB with a shot clock. We had a couple of violations.

Well the Bahamas tournament is over and Oak Ridge came up one game short,  getting beat by Columbia Ga in the Championship game 45-44. Not bad for the Cats 3 out of 4 in a big time tournament. Plus a few days at the beach for our guys.

I thought we adapted ok, probably better than the Georgia teams.   My stance is:  once all districts figure out how to pay an extra official to run it, it will happen.  However, like I observed in the tournament, it doesn't make for higher scores or better offensive play.  In fact, for the most part, the offenses for both us and the other teams were beyond ugly.  I shudder to think how awful some of the girl's games will be with a clock.   I think 30 seconds is too short as most teams don't have to speed or the length to get into their offensive sets.

I thought Ga. high schools used a 35 sec. shot clock. Big advantage in Bahamas tournament if so.

You would be correct and yes, they had a huge advantage.  Even better wins for us.

Arron Green's pace for basketball doesn't need much clock anyway! lol

Very true about pace. Pace. I didn't see any stats, but it seems OR turned the ball over too much.
