Allegedly one of the people involved has a history of verbally abusing opposing players. Allegedly.

Also allegedly, a relative of one of the kids being verbally abused did what nobody else would do and told the perpetrator to stop. Allegedly.

There is a real fan problem in high school athletics. Across the Mississippi River, Caruthersville has been banned from district and postseason play because of an incident that took place at a tournament when the team wasn’t even in the building.

Dyersburg has taken an aggressive stance in attempting to control fan behavior. In addition to the TSSAA fine, announcements are made that any fan walked out will pay the fine and face additional disciplinary measures that could include being banned from all campuses.

To me, the most confusing aspect of this is that the fan who caused this was only punished with a two game suspension. Way to make an example out of the person that wrecked an entire season for the team they allegedly care about.

Yep he needs to be banned from ALL school related functions for at least 2 years.

I do not condone this conduct but if I were to ever be escorted out I seriously doubt I would be paying the fine

I asked the police about that at a West game. They had a sign up & I'm like you would not cause myself to be ejected. They said if someone is kicked out they will pay the fine we will make sure. I then asked them how many BLM that tore up downtown did they make pay? End of conversation

Then hopefully the school district you cost gives you a lifetime ban from any future events until you have a change of heart.

Oh if I ever get to the point I act like that over a HS game then I wouldn’t be back banned or not. It’s ridiculous for an adult to act that way to the point something like that ends up occurring. My point is I’m not sure any school can “force” anyone to pay a fine. It’s not a law, it’s a rule. Unless of course you cross the line into actual charges being filed. Point is if I get tossed I’m getting my money’s worth and I won’t be back regardless. Secondary point is I can’t see a scenario short of the threat of imminent physical harm to me, my family or others in attendance that would lead to me action such a manner over a game. I get it, it can be hard to hear sometimes, as a parent of a HS and college QB there was no shortage of mouths about our son in the stands, still doesn’t justify this sort of behavior. Also like OnB said, the other fans should handle that sort of thing if it’s to this level before it goes to this situation.

Yeah if they don’t charge you then it’s just a broken rule not a crime. Big difference in rules and laws, ask the ATF :roflol:

Again like you said, the fact it escalates to this point is embarrassing. Ask @orngnblk, I’ve been at GB and he’s backed down some GB faithful on my behalf. I have in turn returned the favor at our place. Fans can manage these situations in virtually every case if they will.

This whole thing could have been prevented in the 3rd quarter. No warning by game administrators and it kept getting worse. Oakdale administrators could have prevented this escalation by better staffing the ball game and intervening earlier. While the police officer and everybody in the gym seen a oakdale parent walk around the gym into the stands they did nothing but watch. No attempts to deescalate. Moments later the fight took place just like everyone knew would happen when they seen the Oakdale parent approach the greenback fan. One of the worst scenes iv ever saw in a basketball game. The Oak Dale athletes this year are very undisciplined and probably led the region in personal fouls this year in football. They had a player this year spit in the face of one of our players. More has to be done!

Morgan County is going to have to do a better job at game management or there will be a large law suite eventually.

You only heard half the story CY. That same player who spit was punched in the groin and his hands stepped on with Yellowjacket cleats purposely. Also during that game, 2 Eagle players had their eyes gouged while in a pile. You see CY things go both ways on the field, some get caught and some don’t. I’m not saying any of it was right, but you must tell the whole story. Your boys are not innocent and neither are the other boys but both sides must be told.

I heard tonight one of Oakdales players was suspended for striking one of his teachers this semester while in school.  Supposedly he was suspended and kicked off the basketball team but still I think Oakdale has a major issue with character and discipline obviously.
