This is a shock to say the least. Have to think they will reach out to Josh Jones or Lamar Brown for the opening first.

It's not so easy just to go get a successful public-school coach in the middle of his career to come to a private school.  Unless those guys have been in coaching as long as a Gary Rankin had, most of them need more years in the state retirement system to vest their pensions.  Guys like Gary can take their pensions and double dip.  Those 40 somethings can't afford to do that financially.

If it were just about throwing a number at a coach, Grace Christian would have one of 3 or 4 40 something coaches with state resumes on their resumes as its head coach this morning.

True. I can understand that for Lamar. With Josh Jones not being a school employee would that work the same? I am genuinely asking. I am not really sure how all that works.

State employee. Doesn't matter if in the classroom or driving a truck. Pension is based on years of service and % of highest years of pay. 1.5% for each year of service so 45% at 30 years.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
