I too was at that game...on the sideline....and that is not what happened. The Martin coach got on to his player for his mistake and did not say anything to the Dyersburg sideline. He did not even come out far enough on the field that you could have heard from the Dyersburg sideline what he said, so that is you just ASSuming and not actually knowing.
Most likely the officials would be more involved and throw a few extra flags to keep the score down. The running clock would prevent that with the flags. I have seen it in basketball when officials think you are running up score they will get whistle happy. Right or wrong nobody wants to see a team get humiliated.
