he obviously didn't lean any discipline. You guys had to be close to leading the state in penalties. Even some of your own said it was embarrassing at times. Talent no doubt I give you that very talented for the 2a division. Your so called nig dawg coach had a player look at him and tell him what he was and wasn't going to do and still allowed to continue to play. That information came from one of your senior starters last year. He straight up said starters do what they want when they want to, and Brooks is a major pushover. Personally, I don't know the guy and not going to say he doesn't know what he is doing. But film don't lie, and you had major issues with penalties last year. Exactly why i said if you correct that you should win the gold ball. I still hope you guys win I honestly do

I’m a TC guy, I’ve just heard so much bad about Wilson and a lot of good out of Brooks. Talking to buddies from both communities I know for a fact I’d want my son to play for Brooks over Wilson.

We had a freshman QB last year…that broke the school passing TD record. Our OL averages out to around 260lbs and 6ft +. It’s amazing to see spt went from contending for state championships to now arguing if their team is better than little 2A ER…lol. Hope southwind doesn’t whoop up on ya too bad and make the cobbins kid wanna compete for a championship down the road.

lol Springfield’s OL is bigger trust you’ll see Thursday. Also we too have a sophomore QB who will be very good.

We had more people lined up to take a piss with a 4 win team than yall had in the stands for your state runner ups. Boring 1 Demential football. Never an argument, we have and always will be the gold standard in Robertson county.

You know that! Good luck with your peewee schedule.

Jo Byrns historically has had a better program than SPT. Last two times yall have went to the ship you have gotten BOATRACED. I went and supported Springfield in both games, watched them play Haywood, Hardin Co and other teams to get there…cause mine was on the couch lol. I support spt and other rob co teams when they don’t play us…but right now it’s our county, in a few years it’ll be spt again, then JB then so on. Good luck this year, should handle Rossview.

That is ridiculous, Wilson has taken players with the size of a 2A team to 2 4A state title games and multiple 3rd round of the 5A playoffs, loses 17 starters and has 1 down year last season, and yall act like he is not a good coach, I wouldnt want any other coach at Springfield, theses guys will be ready when the season starts, I have no doubts...

Do you really believe that, or are you just stuck into last season, even after losing 17 starters they still made the playoffs, they have been consistently good over 10+ seasons, do you really not think they would rebound, I hope you guys win state this year...

Good thread going here. Robertson County Football pretty solid right now. We know ER will do well. Springfield could surprise some people. I would like to see my Alma Mater (Greenbrier) do a little better. Anyone got anything on the Bobcats? They are in a tough Region for 4A. Pearl Cohn & Marshall County. Yikes!

Don’t sleep on Heritage. That Offense will be legit. I know it was just a scrimmage, but they dropped 41 on Trousdale County. If the Patriots line of scrimmage is better, watch out! I’m excited to see how they do tonight against White House. Year 2 of the Scott Murray should be exciting.

1.) SPT

2.) ER

3.) Greenbrier

4.) Heritage

5.) Jo Byrns

No disrespect to ER, but make no mistake, the Jackets although small are used to playing against teams with more size, ER would need to get more creative to move the ball, something I have not really seen out of their offense...

Heritage should be pretty good this year. What does Greenbrier have this season?

    • Yeah, JCM went from missing a field goal in the Quarterfinals to win it against Milan, to dropping 5th is nonsense. JCM will beat Union City, and I expect them to beat Peabody as well. Huntingdon, JCM, and Milan are the 3 playoff teams in that 2A region. Peabody/Union City will be the 4th. Union City won't have the speed to keep with up with JCM. Too much turnover going on at Peabody right now. Let's move to 1A: Hayden Williams has improved offenses each year from a scoring standpoint. In 2021, Bolivar averaged 12.5 points a game on offense, went up to 21.7 points in 2022, and then 33.5 points in 2023. Humboldt only scored 11.8 points per game in 2023, and that's with their big offensive lineman that's at whatever school he is at. In 2024, Humboldt scored 24.5 a game. When you looked at Humboldt's schedule, they only lost to Greenfield by 7, and beat Gleason by 2. With Williams getting a full offseason under his belt, have a better understanding of what his athletes can do. Won't shock me if they're able to score close to 32-35 points a game offense based on Williams' track record. I won't be surprised if Humboldt finishes 2nd in region, obviously they'll have to challenge Lake for that spot. Humboldt does need to solve things with their middle school program and make sure they get that in check. I'm curious to see what will happen because there might be some hope back in southwestern Gibson County. And if Humboldt is good, West Tennessee football is good.
    • Woah!  More TD passes than incomplete passes? Surely they won that game right? No? You lost to a freshman rb surrounded by other freshmen and sophomores so congratulations on that. Not to mention ya'll had your receiver healthy i been hearing about for 3 years. Nice of him to finally show up. Didnt make a difference though.  Guess that's why Bruceton decided not to renew the rivalry. Didn't want 8 in a row. Rough.  Wonder what the excuses will be this year when they're 1-4 and half the team quits...again.
    • Glad to see Coach Roberts back coaching
    • Im Happy to answer. First, I’m not the least bit concerned with other sports. I’m concerned about the one I know and love. Theres not one ounce of me that cares, even the slightest, about what they do in golf, track, or any of the other individual sports. WE have to make sure THEY are doing right by OUR sport. Now then, a minority of people love the idea of going back to the true state championship? Why? And if you’re good with that, maybe we should go back to carry-format for consolations, eh? Most of the states that do a single state champion do so out of necessity of population. Only California, New Jersey, and Indiana are true wrestling states that could have multiple divisions but don’t. Here’s the list of states with only one state champion that I could find; California, New Jersey, Indiana, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Rhode Island, and Vermont Aside from California, Jersey, and Indiana, point out which states would need multiple divisions. So we are really only talking about three states who consistently rank much higher than we do as a state. Here’s why one state champion would hurt wrestling in Tennessee - We. Are. Not. Those. States. I know, I know. Everyone here wants us to be. I remember the Cow Palace debate ad nauseam - “Iowa doesn’t have their state state championship in a cow palace, neither should we”. The answer is the same here. We aren’t those guys. Weve gotten much better. No one can say otherwise, but simply put, we NEED as many young men and women as possible to have exposure to and participate in the sport if we are to continue to grow and if you’re telling me that having Sam Everett School of Innovation in the same division as Baylor wouldn’t hurt participation in that sport, you’re wrong. Moreover, if you think it has anything to do with lil Johnny or lil Kelly not having the talent or haven’t worked enough, then you're as small minded as you sound and I pray that’s not the case. It’s opportunity. It’s big picture. Get your eyes off the trees and look at the forrest.  Small schools don’t have the talent pool to draw from that the larger schools have. That’s a fact. They also generally don’t have the exposure to the sport as the larger school, which means it’s harder to get kids out to participate. Period. So if having multiple divisions allows smaller schools the ability to hang something in their gym about having a state qualifier, medalist, or champion inspires another kid or two to come out and give it a try, then explain to me what the harm is. I’ll wait. You want to be in a position to one day be like California, Jersey, or Indiana, then we have to have the multiple divisions now to keep growing at the clip we’ve grown as a state. The more kids that wrestle, the better off we are. If that A kid that squeaks out a medal once or twice flips that into a college experience on any level, then returns home and gives back, Thats growing. That’s good for the sport. That same kid in a division with the wreckers from the top tier A, AA, and D2 schools wouldn’t have that opportunity   Save your “participation trophy” comments. That’s not what’s at play here   People aren’t dumb. While there are ABSOLUTELY single A kids that can compete with and have tremendous success in the AA level, I’d wager most understand the difference. Just the same as AA with D2, lather, rinse, repeat.
