OR is supposed to be loaded with athletes year in and year out. Should you not have the “next man up” mentality?

My my how the “mighty” have fallen.

It happens. We haven’t won a state championship in 33 years. Not sure where you’ve been.

Snark aside, from the player's perspective, it IS a "next man up" mentality.  However, the talent, compared to the original starters, is just not there.  That said, I think the receivers are playing well.

As far as loaded with athletes, it's been a good while since we have had good depth on our football teams.  In fact, it probably ended with the 2004 squad.  For about 20 plus years, there was always an All-State caliber player on offense waiting in the wings (mainly at running back).  That ended with Corey Booker and Spencer Gulmire.  FWIW, I think the coaching staffs (with the exception of Stevens) have done a good job of maximizing the talent we had.

Since winning state what would be the biggest win OR has had in your opinion?

Probably beating Riverdale in 2010 in the quarterfinals.  We finished 6-4 and didn't look very good doing it.  However, we just kept squeezing out wins.  Riverdale had their best post Rankin team that year and were expected to be Maryville's best competition.  We jumped out to a big lead and had to hang on for a victory.  As for other games, beating DB in 1999 and 2005, Jeff Co in 2005 and West in 2020.

I mean if winning state is the only way to equate a good season then most programs suck.

You just made it sound like we reload every year with top-flight talent, which hasn’t been the case for many years. We’ve been over this before. Times and the landscape are way different in TN HS football from those days.

So Lussier for 3, Blade for 1 and Benanti for 1.
What would be considered the worst lost since state?

Lol!  Definitely a tie between Walker Valley in 2016 (we were pretty depleted, but played awful) and Catholic in 2018.  Nothing else comes close.

Losing that game to Catholic in 2018 after dominating the first half up 35-14 was a tough one to swallow. Had the talent (especially at the skill positions) to win it all that year.

Well, maybe last year, but Clinton matched up with us pretty well and their QB had no turnovers which was his kryptonite his whole HS career.  The other 2 were just inexcusable losses.

I would say that losing to Clinton at home during a playoff game would be number 1. But that’s just me. Strike against Rangman.
