Well, to Sniper’s credit he didn’t refer to any “magic”, but said it’s historic, which it is. Name me another HS football field in Tennessee where 2 Heisman winners (Hornung & Spurrier) have played, and where Bear Bryant visited and took in a game in attendance? (1958 “National Championship” game between OR/Chatt Central). 🤔

These are the things that make it historic?? Is this the only stadium Bear Bryant ever visited? Is this the only place that Heisman Trophy winners ever played in high school. What about the history of a WV team beating them to death in the first round or the lack luster last couple of years when you have only been a couple of linemen away? Does that make it historic for the wrong reasons? The history means nothing to other teams. To the OR faithful and to those that have memories of Blankenship when OR was winning, maybe. But the “magic” and “mystique” mean nothing to teams today. OR is a shell of its former self. Will they be good again, sure they will, but right now they aren’t. “Lifers” are moving and playing at Clinton for goodness sake.

Blankenship will always be an amazing experience.

Well, I’m not sure where I said we were any good right now? I’m quite aware that we aren’t, but that wasn’t the point to begin with. And I’m pretty sure that Blankenship isn’t the only place that those things have happened, but in Tennessee I’d say it’s pretty few and far between.

The OR offense has been completely decimated by injuries and there is no real fire power anymore, although the running back is good. If what I have heard is right (that the McMinn QB missed the first game but is back now), then OR will have a tough time winning because I'm hearing that the injured OR players will not return this season.

I just don't buy the argument that OR doesn't have a chance against McMinn because they have some players out. OR is one of the most decorated football programs our state has had over the years. They just reload every year with good talented players and seem to always have quality coaching staffs.

McMinn will have to play mistake free to beat OR at Blankenship.

Sniper, you will just have to see to believe what we’re talking about. Of course, our kids will try their tails off, but there just isn’t much to work with outside of our RB and QB right now. The rest of the kids on offense were JV players earlier in the yr, and a few who were even freshman players. Is what it is though. I appreciate the respect, but you will see.

OR is still a very dangerous team no matter who is hurt. They always have good athletes and are well coached.

It will take a well-played game by the Cherokees if they are to pull off the upset win at historic Blankenship stadium.

Not sure about them being well coached. One touchdown for Rangman vs a bad Rhea team.
